Yes a lot of the rhetoric and issues are the same as ever, but the anger on both sides is deeper and the Soviet Union is gone.

When congress imposed an arms embargo over Cyprus the rest of the US govt was eager to work around it. After Trump that won’t be the case now. Also the whole YPG business, whatever you think of it, wouldn’t have happened in the Cold War.
