Three versions compared, good pen as before.

Seeing quite a few comments here, it may be helpful to post the photos of the packaging as it was received. I bought from Amazon, through Prime, not from any Marketplace seller, so this shows what you should receive from Amazon.

The Jotter came in a small cardboard-based box with a clear cover. It's not glamorous, but it works to protect the pen. The pen is made in France and it's what I expected, having used the same pen for three decades. I have not experienced any deterioration in quality as some other have mentioned, and I am sitting here with three of the same model pens, made from USA, UK and this one from France. I can't really feel anything materially different between the three of them; and all of them write the same way in terms of weight distribution.

The one I just received has the Quinkflow black ink in Medium cartridge.

It's appears to be a fake, but at least it's a good fake! The refill stick shows signs of wear and the the Parker logo engraving isn't engraved but rather lasered on with some sort of dot pattern (attached pics.) I have this exact model pen and loved it so much I bought one as a gift. The pen I received seems sketchy, but it will work. I mean, it's still a solid steel pen and it writes and clicks just fine for $8, free shipping. This is not an expensive fountain pen, so who really cares? Not worth returning. However, it's a little disappointing, considering I'm giving it as a gift.

Owned and used 30+ Stainless jotters over the years. These are either really poorly made now or cheap imitations. Poor quality! Very light weight, feels very cheap & light., design on clip is not the same as past- uneven and shallow. Not what I expect from Parker.

I have a lot of pens ranging from cheaper disposable pens to somewhat expensive custom/production pens. I like metal construction, a clicky, and good ink. While I prefer the gel ink pens I have used this pen before and didn’t mind using it so I thought I’d pick one up as a decent carry pen I wouldn’t mind losing.

The construction is adequate. It feels reasonably durable for its size and weight. It is very lightweight and feels more like aluminum, especially considering it does not seem to be magnetic for the most part. I do think the clip might be a problem and can see it getting bent and breaking easily if you’re not careful with it

I do like that it is very compact and yet it doesn’t make it difficult to write with short term. With the size and weight it disappears in your pocket or bag which I like.

The Parker ink is good. It dries fast and writes very smooth but you can also use the Parker Gel ink which in my experience isn’t bad either.

Overall it’s not a bad pen it writes well, looks simple but elegant, is reasonably well constructed, and it doesn’t cost too much. If you’re looking for a nice pen you won’t feel too bad losing, I think this could be what you’re looking for.

Not as good as they were...

Bought this as a gift and either the quality of Parker pens have dropped or there's some knock offs somewhere. The comment I got from my friend was that it's cheaply made and has a weird sound along with every click of the pen. He's owned other Parker pens and a huge fan so I thought this stainless steel version would be perfect... unfortunately it fell short. I guess buy with caution....

Good Pen, Bad Clip

This is a great pen. A timeless classic. Very EDC friendly as it is fairly short and narrow. My only gripe about this pen is its clip. I have had two break off on me already, the first time I ordered another Jotter, the second time I realized that I can just order a clip on pocket clip (the Fisher Bullet Pen clip works, but you need to narrow the clip with a pair of pliers). Otherwise, it writes well and can take Fisher Space cartridges fitted with the Parker adapter.

Very nice pen. The metal is slightly slippery compared to the plastic barrels and so I'd prefer the plastic but it seems those aren't made and sold in the US and the only amazon options for a plastic barrel pen were those sold for the Indian market that are shipped to the US and the size (from reviewers) seemed small which made me worry about US refills. I also wanted blue but every review I read said that the new pens only sell in black and to get blue, you have to buy an insert.

Get the Fisher Astronaut Pen instead

Its just a pen. Expected it to feel better in the hand, but it doesn't have the 'weight' (not talking grams or ounces, but 'feel) a classic should. Everyone says to buy a Fisher space pen insert, and its true. If you really care about pen style and functionality, buy the Fisher Astronaut Pen - you're halfway there (Jotter + Fisher cartridge cost) to a substantially more functional and attractive (and what a story!) pen.
