Normally it doesn't bleed through but since it's a gel pen, scribbling on the same part over and over again will eventually bleed through but it takes quite a while before that happens. Usually doesn't smear but they can sometimes leave small balls of runny ink that can smear so just watch for those. Permanent markers are clearly the most water-resistant, followed by Ball Point pens and advanced ink Ball Point pens because the ink is oil-based. Gel ink, which is found in our G2 and other gel lines, contain water in its base but is still water-resistant, while Rolling Ball ink is the least water-resistant.

Question:

Does it bleed through fine, thin paper?

Answer:

We use the fine point "05" Pilot G-2. While I don't write on anything thinner than 20 lb computer grade paper I think that since the fine grade puts down less ink the chance of "bleed-through" would be reduced. A hard surface on the paper has a better chance to avoid bleed.

I'm a lefty. This means I'm the girl that leaves 'drag marks' from my hand, while the side of my hand remains the color of the ink I've been using. Not with these pens. I discovered a few years ago that the gel dries quickly, doesn't 'drag' with my hand. Oh, how I have fallen for these pens. So much that I hold them with an iron fist, so nobody swipes them. If someone asks to use my pen, I won't take my eyes off of them, and the second they stop writing, I reach for MY pen. ;) I'm the overprotective mother, they are MY pens. I found that the ULTRA FINE ink is the only pen I like now, the extremely fine scribe is just right. I'll never use another brand or size, and should rumors swirl of removal from market, I'll be buying them up until my funds are exhausted to ensure I've a lifetime supply. And THAT is how much I love them. No kidding. Ask anyone who knows me. They'll happily tell you how 'selfish' I am with my Pilot G2 Gel Pens. And I am not ashamed to admit, they're right.

I walked into a Cartier store about a year ago thinking, "Jay Z sings about these guys a lot, but I don't know much about them". Quickly, I realized that I was not the target clientele that Cartier was marketing too but thought, if I wanted to get my foot in the door, where would I start? I figured that pens might be a decent price point.

Wrong.

Choking on my gum seeing the price of a Cartier fountain pen being around $700, I asked the sales associate, "Excuse me sir, pardon my ignorance, but what is the advantage of this $700 Cartier pen over my $2.50 G2?"

He adjusted his cuff link, swallowed, said, "Um, well, uh, you see", then pushed a few papers to the side, looked at the $700 pen and gently said, "Well, you know, that, uh, well...the G2 is a really good pen".

That is why I use the G2 rather than what Jay Z tells me to write with.

The Pilot G2 .38 pens are the best products to grace the human race. I am a hardcore fan of the .38's and I guard them from pen-smashers with diligence and commitment. When someone reaches for my pen I cringe with fear then I'm flooded with anger-- why would you grab a woman's pen from her? Why would you write so hard? Why would you break the fine tip of my pen just to write whatever stupid thing you're writing? Not cool. Leave us .38 lovers to our pens and we'll leave you alone.

I don't even let my husband use my pens.

Why would you write with anything else? I haven't. I converted to the Pilot G2 .38 in all colors approximately 10 years ago and I have gone through maybe 50 or so pens. They are long-lasting if you take proper care and don't write like a brute. Don't use these if you are a violent pen-pressure with no respect for the art of handwriting.

I work for a police department which uses thermal paper in our patrol vehicles to issue citations/warnings/reports/etc. Each ticket I issue requires several copies to be printed, which I must pen in certain fields and sign. The person I'm issuing the ticket to must also sign one copy to acknowledge receipt. This leads to smeared ink over all copies. This is especially true when it comes to the copy I get back from the person. They tend to scribble their signature then quickly hand it over to me. If they don't smear it then I most likely will because I'm more concerned with being aware of my surroundings than ensuring I don't touch the ink.

With that in mind I decided to hunt out the best pen I could find to write on our thermal paper with as little smearing as possible with a very short dry time. The requirements were simple: least amount of smearing with minimal time to set, black, and a click pen.

My test was pretty basic. I would sign my rank, first initial, last name, and star number out, count to "2-one-thousand" then run my finger across it.

These are my absolute favorite pens, and I have been using them for years..

I tend to write on the smaller size, and the .38 roller ball ensures that all my letters are legible; the lines never bleed into each other. But, as with any G2, the ink is very fluid and doesn't easily dry out or clot.

A high school teacher of mine once said we were allowed a single sheet of paper to use on our semester exam. I was able to fit everything and more that I needed because of these pens. (See attached pictures). They are incredible.

Pilot G2 ultra fine point is my favorite pen for daily use! I love the way they write so much that I buy them and bring them to work rather than use the pens the office provides. I have shared them with other staff and they love them too! The ink flows smoothly and is not scratchy like some fine point pens. The soft grip on the barrel makes them quite comfortable to write with for an extended period of time.

I love the extra fine nib on the Pilot G2. I have small handwriting and other nib sizes like the 0.5, 0.7, and 1.0 make my handwriting bleed together when using Gel pens. Some people say that it has a scratchy sound when writing and can be annoying, but I don't really get a scratchy sound or at least one that is loud enough to agitate me. The ink flow is always smooth and consistent. This is definitely a top choice for me with Gel pens
