Just wondering. I'm in early campaign and this is my third king. The current one is alright, atleast he's respected and all the dangerous counts and dukes are in prison, due to past rebellions... Yeah, my second king was an idiot, like all of my first king's sons.
My first king was definitely awesome. I started him at 16, played all the way to his 80 birthday and he died peacefully. I got a score of around 8000 with him and won all the wars I started. I lost half of the territory due to poor heirs and terrible marriages they did, though.
I was wondering if you too had a superking, how far he got and if his heirs were able to maintain the empire?
If you have a "super king" you have to educate your heir with someone "super" too. you can see the attributes from education, when he become adult says: "John doe is an adult, he became a gray shadow, or a midas touch, fortune maker" (I am translating from spanish, I dont know in english), and this add a lot to the management, intrigue or martial. So, you have to send your heir to the best man or woman to educate in your realm. they learn this abilities from their tutors. if you have a super king, you can be the tutor of your own heir. Also, if you rule for a lot of years, gift to you r heir some duke title, so he can gain some prestige. when your king die, you already have that duke title. and finally, dont give any important title to your other sons. ps. sorry about my english.
i had the duke of munster and got empire of britannia scandinavia and byzantine all in his life he died at 92 then my heir and his heir 5 times over maintained the empire with only 2 revolts of counts and the game ended with my last person owning western and central europe and the northern coast of africa ( the last 7 were all strong genius and brave
for me it was Emperor Arthfael I The Monk, ruled over the Kingdom of Wales from the age of 19 to 81 and (as shown by his name) created the Empire of Britannia when he was 64.
He was Just, Brave, Wroth, Zealous and a Theologian.
His son (Emperor Arthur I) is an incompetent moron whose death i am readily arranging.
My best character was the Doux of Doryaion at 1066. In danger of a Jihad, small land, I went Iconoclast on my file and took over the Byzantine Empire, lots of fun
I can't remember if he really was the best I had but I remember king John IV " the Young " of England and Wales and for a moment of Jerusalem. He inherited England at the age of 8 ( hence his nickname ) then later on the Kingdom of Wales from his mother. He unified the channel and northern see borders to the crown of England ( Holland, Flanders, Frisia,...Etc ) and around the age of 40 he won a crusade for Jerusalem which he gave to his younger brother.
He was a clever and kind man ( All stats around 15, Intrigue at 10 but diplomacy at 21 ) who only married once and stayed faithful to his wife until she died ( never married again after ). His rule did not see much rebellion but a correct expansion of his land.
He died at the age 78, unfortunatly, his two older sons died before him, the first and heir of disease the second in battle. The succession did not went very well because of the early deaths of the King's sons. His grandchild was a greedy man, who ended loosing part of the continental territories in a war against the joined forces of the Emperor and the King of France ( despite this one being the uncle of King John's heir, King Henry II " the Unready ".
This was one of my favourite game, starting from Count of Gloucester and ( Somerset I believe ) up the way to be King in less than 100 years. ( Hey, the De Normandie were all greedy and silly Kings, was time for true Englishmen to take the throne from the Normand invaders :D )
Count (guy has a norse name they have the hardest names) of (also a weird name but is called bohuslän. He had almost all stats 17+ he conquerd all of scandinavia and then he died in a boat going to enemy lands. He died at age 60.Then my son Björn became the fylkir of the norse and the emperor of scandinavia my son was slow :l
Basileus Andronikos VIII the Glorious. Restored the Roman Empire and the Pentarchy, had genius trait and attractive. Conquered much of North Africa and Italy. Defeated a Mongol invasion.
I have a few that I am rather proud of but since I'm not the greatest of CK 2 players ever they pale in comparison to some of the others. All of them are named the same but that's just me.
King Paul l and King Paul ll of Aragon: Paul l started off as the owner of Barcalona and was a beloved monarch most of the time but occasioanlly slipped into dispopular approval due to arrests to keep his kingdom safe. He started off as a young man of 18 slothful and proud he ran his armies and people with honor and respect. He quickly forced his fellow northerners of Spain to bend the knee and overpowered the former king of Aragon. He usurped the title while battling hordes of Arab infidels who dared to cross him. The pope loved him and he proved to be a strong man for christanity ruling for over fourty years. He gained the title of "The Wise" and had many sons and daughters. Unfortunately at his old age of seventy having outlived most of his peers he sucummed to the wars that had fought and fell at the age of seventy five. He did in one life what many others more powerful failed at. His son Paul the ll fought to keep his father's dynasty in check and earned the respect of his men at first but died quickly unable to keep his father's legacy in tack as his young son to naive to understand the politics of Aragon fell.
Lord of Northern Africa Sultan Paul The Careless Destroyer and his Son Paul ll The Man Who Felled Rome and Retaker of Southern Sicily: Starting out in the middle of the Sunni filled African deserts Sultan Paul l wormed his way through by stomping out and clearing his immediate areas. Respected by many and hated by others there was no doubt of his strength and leadership. After gaining his wives and his sons and daughter all of which benefited from his personal skills except his future succesor. His bravery led him to many a defeat against superior tactics and numbers earning him the title of The Careless but it was such recklessness that made an empire that rivaled the emerging Egypt later and his fellow Sunni to the right and left of him. Unwilling to extend to the sea he rampaged across northern africa destroying all those he had to living until the age of 50 where he was unfortunately maimed and he died some few years later of the wound. He died with the idea of his incompetent first born boy Paul ll being brought in who paled in comparison highly to his younger brothers. Immediately after his death the young pampered Paul ll was not only incompetent but hated by many. He immediately went to work in silencing his critics and forcing his brother to bend his knee to the true sultanate leader. After some trouble he decided that his old life wasn't suited to a warrior nor the heir to the man who had made a small empire in the depths of a desert. Paul ll decided to work on diplomacy where his father was so talented at and bid his time finishing his father's conquests and using allies his father had made using his sisters as bait. He fought back the hearty men of Aragon and their fellow christans whom had taken Spain. After biding his time and taking Africa he marshaled his fleets his father never used and set sail for Sicily attempting to take it from the heathens of christanity whom were hated by their own kind as heretics. His massive armies crumbled before the rebels of a group of rebelling sunni in the area and even mercenries failed to due the trick with many more numbers. Not peturbed he pushed on easily smashing the foolish christans. Not only that but some time later after taking Sicily and forming the emirate of sicily he vassaled the rebels taking the entire south for his own. However there was that wretched symbol of christans...Rome and their pope....His father had not the ambition to take Rome but Paul ll...he was different. With christans busy fighting one another he marshaled his men and took Rome crushing the pope's forces like worms beneath his feet. His story is still going on.
