    Reconstruction of the destroyed temple of Baalshamin in Palmyra is expected to begin this month, in a joint effort by Syrian authorities and UNESCO. This was revealed in August by the director of antiquities in Homs, Hussam Hamish.

  2. Recent photos of the construction from last week. Work is now ongoing on the tenth floor. When I was there in July, they were working on the fourth floor.

  3. A new residential tower, Julia Tower, will be Latakia’s latest addition to its coastline, and has been under construction in Latakia’s southern corniche since April this year. Construction is going at a very fast pace, with a remarkable development since I visited it this summer.

  6. Deir Ezzor City Council has completed the rubble removal of five districts in the city: Arfa’, Mwazafeen, Al-Jabileh, Sheikh Yasin and Al-Arda’. The City Council has now signed a contract with MCE to remove rubble from the district of Al-Baghaliyah for 15 million SYP.

  11. A large tourism project in Ein-Marj, Suwayda is being conducted by Rania Investment Group to put forgotten Suwayda on the map. Al-Sha’er complex consists of a 5-star hotel with a pool and a restaurant, green spaces, a cinema, a cafeteria, a mall, children’s playground and a gym.

  14. The Investment Agency has decided to allow the establishment of a project in Homs to produce white cement and lime cement, creating 190 job opportunities. It will annually produce 500 000 tons of packed white cement & 150 000 tons of packed lime cement. Duration: within 3 years

  15. A paving and asphalting project has also been finished in the industrial area of Nabek, at a cost of 100 million SYP. The governor also revealed that he is planning to establish 12 new industrial cities in Damascus countryside to help the reconstruction phase & local production.

  16. The governor of Rif Dimashq has just revealed that the industrial areas of Fadloun 1 and Fadloun 2 have been fully rehabilitated, at an expense of 1 billion SYP. He also added that the Tal-Kurdi industrial area has been rehabilitated and expanded as well.

  22. Syria has finally begun exporting citrus to Iraq with 20 Syrian trucks entering the Iraqi border right now. Syrian citrus was recently announced to be free of any harmful chemicals, and to meet and even exceed the standards set by the European Union, and is among the cheapest.

  23. Yesterday, Ministry of Public Housing discussed w/ the large Indian Tata Group the possibility of joint cooperation in social housing projects. India’s ambassador explained the interest of Indian companies to enter the Syrian market, particularly in construction & reconstruction.

  24. Work has now begun to restore the building of the health directorate in the city of Deir Ezzor, Al-Huwayqa neighbourhood. Furthermore, the Deir Ezzor Health Directorate is building health centers in the villages of Al-Sawaiyah and Mazloum.

  26. The project was largely finished in 2011, but was later halted. However, many signs show of the project recommencing as it is still being marketed by IGO, and buildings and villas are being sold as we speak.

  27. Murooj Valley. A project by Emirati Invest Group Overseas (IGO) located in Judaidah Al-Wadi, Damascus countryside. It is a residential community consisting of villas, apartments, green areas and a recreation center. It has a strategic location being close to other major projects.

    Fresh footage from today that I have put together showing the restoration work at the Umayyad Mosque of Aleppo. The minaret now has a few layers, and you can notice the many restored pillars from inside as well. A few months ago, the blue domes of the mosque were restored.

  31. It was supposed to be managed by Rotana, a leading hotel management company in the Middle East and North Africa. However, in 2018, Rotana gave up on the project and announced that it has no intentions to continue with the project.

  32. Yasmeen Rotana Hotel will be one of Syria’s largest 5-star hotels in Mazzeh, Damascus. The project is being invested in by Rami Makhlouf, and is set to open by the end of 2020, with an area of 55,401 m2. Work began in 2009, before being halted in 2012, and resumed this year.

  34. After years of closure, the Armenian Cathedral of our Mother of Reliefs in Aleppo reopens its doors to the public after having undergone restoration. It was damaged after having been bombed by rebels hours before Mass on January 10, 2015.

  41. Prior to the war, there was a large project in Aleppo called Sama City - a project to built 323 villas, a commercial center, a mosque, parks, health centers and playgrounds. Work had begun on 31 May 2010, but was halted in 2013 due to the war.
