Database software and Sol-Eq

The latest version of the database and supporting programs may be downloaded as the packed file SC_Database.exe or SC_Database64.exe. Once this has been installed the database should be interrogated by running the program SC_Query.exe in the database folder.

There are 2 alternative options for installation:

Option1
This installs SC-Database onto your hard disk using an InstallShield installer. This also creates a desktop short-cut to the interrogation program SC_Query.exe.

Option 2
This option is necessary with 64-bit Windows operating systems which give an error message with the InstallShield installation program..
.*** Note that the user will have to create a shortcut to SC_Query.exe by the normal method ***.

To interrogate SC-Database run the program SC_Query.exe from the SCDbase folder. The Windows Registry is not used with Option 2.

• Download the file SC_Database.exe (about 13 MB) or SC_Database64.exe to your PC (about 11 MB)
• SC-Database will be installed in the folder C:\SCDbase (recommended) but you will be able to select a folder of your choice.
• SC-Database is interrogated by running the program SC_Query.exe.
• Instructions for using the software will be found in the included program Help file and the manual (as an MS-doc file) may be downloaded (see below).
• Index files will be constructed automatically when the program is used for the first time. A sample results file, SCSample.lst (data for complexes of histidine with H+, Cu++ and Ni++) is included.

The manual for using SC-Database is available for downloading as a zip file (SCDB_Manual.zip, about 350 KB).

Sol-Eq (Solution Equilibria, Principles and Applications), about 148 MB when installed)

• Download and run the packed file Sol-Eq.exe (about 45 MB)
• The tutorials will be installed in the folder C:\SolEq (recommended) but you will be able to select a folder of your choice.
• The tutorials may be interrogated by running the program SolEq.exe.The Windows Registry is not used
• If asked, select The program has loaded correctly
• you will have to create a shortcut to SolEq.exe by the normal method
