Hello, guys, this is Lost Squad Development Team and today we want to tell you about not so epic, but still very important part of our upcoming game.
When you are making a standalone game, it is rather important that it will look fresh, unique and with a bunch of new ideas. That is why one of the most routine, yet very important, task while making your own game is to create new content. Lost Squad is a game in Half-Life Universe, taking part in the actions of Half-Life 2 and further, so we faced a situation, where we had to keep the original atmosphere of City 17 and refresh it with new content like textures and models. This job requires a terrific amount of time and is almost not presentable, until it is finished. And, of course, without a cooperation with Oak Gear we would not be able to do this.
Here is some examples of updated textures:
Old vanilla textures:
New updated textures:
Updated explosion particle (with dynamic light):
Also after gameplay video was released there were lots of complains about voice acting quality, so one of our voice actors - Max Huggins recorded a video to comfort those who have been worrying about the voice work, in which he talks about his voicework and demonstrates updated recorings:
That's all for today. Stay tuned and don't forget to vote for us.
That's a much better improvement in the voice acting, I love seeing this mod getting put together piece by piece :D
Glad you liked the update!
do you know the release date for this game?
I still can't understand, what is the point of that skyscraper ? It looks so out of place...
If you are talking about the big bluish purple building it's the citadel from Half-Life 2. This entire game is built around the part of Half-Life 2 where Gordon goes inside the citidel to confront Dr. Breen. This big "Skyscraper" is the main HQ of the entire Combine Force and it's right outside where the player first starts the game as Barney!
Excuse me,i was talking about that white building with red roof, which was added to the final portion of "Follow Freeman".It might not be a skyscraper, but it certainly wasn't there in the vanilla HL2,and it's an addition i don't really like.
Yea, now that I look it does seem kind of out of place, maybe ingame if the player was to get some sort of context such as one of the rebels saying "Hey remember that -Insert Name Here- Building, man it looked so out of place when things weren't so bad." or something to that but I agree throwing it in there without any context does make it look out of place.
Wow, you must be new to HL2 if you're saying that...
When I said that "it's right outside where the player first starts the game as Barney! " I was talking about Lost Squad not the retail Half-Life 2.
If anyone has an questions feel free to ask as long as they don't spoil anything you haven't seen yet!
