    Reconstruction of the destroyed temple of Baalshamin in Palmyra is expected to begin this month, in a joint effort by Syrian authorities and UNESCO. This was revealed in August by the director of antiquities in Homs, Hussam Hamish.

  2. The project’s design phase has been completed and according to the owners, construction work will begin in a few months. They expect that the project will require 24 to 30 months to complete, and revealed that there is a plan to open it in phases starting next summer.

  4. A project to build a large enterntainment complex for families is being inplemented in Umm Al-Zeytoun, Suwayda. It will be the largest entertainment complex in the governorate, and is considered one of the most important tourism projects in the governorate creating 250 jobs.

  6. The entire project is expected to be finished in the summer of 2021. The area will mainly be home to young families, and to families with family member/s who martyred in the battle against the rebels.

  7. Russia supports the project with building materials. 5 concrete mixers arrived to Tartous and will in near future be on site. The project is mostly conducted by the public sector with some private contractors that have contracted to contribute part of the work in these towers.

  8. There will be 350 tower buildings ranging from 5, 10, 12 & 15 storey buildings, with 60 towers allocated for youth. These 60 residential towers, at a project expense of 30 billion SYP, will create 12 000 apartments. The Ministry of Housing has promised they will be done in 2020.

  9. Of the 26 000 housing units, 15 000 are youth dwellings. The youth housing project is in its final phase, with circa 3200 housing units currently being built, and work will begin with 3000 more housing units at the end of this year, with the rest to start being built in 2020.

  10. New Dimas City Project near Dimas will create 26 000 housing units with a capacity of housing 130 000 people over an area of 600 hectares. There will be schools, as well as service, commercial, sports and entertainment centers, and parks and children’s playgrounds.

  15. Syrian businessman Mohannad Al-Masri, head of Damasco Group that is based in Dubai, has allegedly been arrested by the UAE. He had earlier this year stated in Anadolu Agency that he welcomed the Turkish safe-zone in NE Syria, considering it ”a gateway for development projects”.

  19. The hotel is the newest addition to the hospitality world in Damascus. It is a preservation of architect Fernando De Aranda. Aranda’s father worked in Istanbul & after the 1909 coup, his father returned to Spain. Fernando preferred Damascus and spent the rest of his life in it.

  20. The four-star Julia Doumna Hotel in Damascus was today opened and inaugurated by the Minister of Tourism Mohammed Rami Radwan Martini. It has a capacity of 32 rooms and suites spread over 4 floors. The hotel includes restaurant Aranda & world-class international Café Moscow.

  22. A new Sheraton hotel is currently being built in Tartous, Syria. Four Points by Sheraton Hotel will, once it is finished, be Tartous’ fanciest hotel with 18 floors. Sheraton is an international American hotel brand that currently has hotels in Damascus, Maaret Saidnaya & Aleppo.

  23. The French Louvre Hotels Group is a global hotel industry, with 1500 hotels in many countries around the world. It should be noted that the Syrian company Nozha Logistics invested in the Semiramis Hotel at the end of 2013 for 109 million SYP. Owner Mounzer Nozha owns DHL Syria.

  24. The other one is a 4-star hotel in the Mazzeh district of Damascus, and will be known as ”Golden Tulip Mazzeh Hotel”. It will provide 206 beds, with the size of the hotel being 10,071 m2. It will open in 2020 as well.

  26. Semiramis Golden Tulip Hotel is scheduled to open in June 2020, and will provide 230 beds. The size of the hotel is 7,449 m2. The hotel is not new, it’s simply being upgraded & now under the French Louvre. Here are photos of it in the 60-70s, known then as the Semiramis Hotel.

  30. In 2013, the General Organisation for Public Housing began with building a new suburb with 5000 residential plots for youth & workers in Suwayda governorate - Salim Residential Suburb outside the town of Salim. There will be schools, commercial areas, playgrounds & green spaces.

  33. Yesterday, the governor of Rif Dimashq Alaa Ibrahim revealed that he is currently negotiating with an anonymous investor to run 800 Chinese buses on the province’s transmission lines. The buses run on electricity, and are all ready to use and will serve other governorates too.

  35. If Antaradus wins the case, the project will still continue - with slight modifications. 1st picture shows Antaradus Company’s plans for the project and second picture shows the Porto Tartous project. Antaradus’ project is essentially the same project with small modifications.

  36. In February this year, Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration ruled out that Antaradus must pay 38.9 million US dollars to Amer Group and Porto Group in compensation. Antaradus appealed the ruling and a court postponed the lawsuit until December 16.

  37. In 2014, the Syrian shareholders of the project Antaradus Company and Wahoud Group filed an arbitration case against Amer Group for the termination of the Porto Tartous project & demanded 176 million dollars in compensation.
