Again, I will not pretend like I know the inner workings of negotiations. This is all that can be learned from months of public statements. At the end of the day, likely everyone will have some disagreement with some part of the deal that’s made. That’s what makes a compromise.

Assad and his government have done horrible things. Many should be arrested and tried for war crimes. Many should be in jail. But it’s not going to happen and deals must be struck for survival, especially if it can’t be guaranteed without it. The alternative is conquest by Turks.

I am hopeful that this phase of the war can reach an end, and in doing so, Syria might become more locally run and democratic. With people choosing who is in charge, at least locally. But with the reintroduction if Ba’athist control returns the mukhabarat. Which is scary.

I will not pretend to know what the end result may be, but I am absolutely expecting some of the political parties established in north eastern Syria to stick around for a long time. The end political situation might be like Dara’a. But hopefully not as violent afterwards..

Damascus obviously does not want to give up any control and wants to return to the pre-war political situation. This is as unacceptable to the SDC as autonomy is to Damascus.

The Russians are eager to ensure a political compromise is met, I’ve been told. We know from many public statements what the SDC, (the SDF’s political party) wants. And that is a nation-wide federalization. Also, many want a kind of autonomy for Kurds similar to Iraq.

Talks are still going on with Damascus. And the Russians are very heavily involved. There is still work to reach a political agreement but the military agreement is clear, once a deal is met. And that is the SDF joining the army. And conscription waved for past service.

But absolute heroes the British public are. Continually people take action immediately to defend total strangers. They are heroes and should be highlighted. Over and over again people step in with any tools they can find, or with nothing at all, to stop evil men. They are heroes!

Maybe now Europe will get serious about properly prosecuting their jihadis? Probably not. But maybe.

I don’t want to make things seem more intense than they actually are. And the people I know in the area have much more important things to do than tell me every time a shot is fired.

I’ll probably not talk much about “clashes” north of Tel Tamr in the future. As a “clash” can be two people plonking at each other outside of their effective rifle range.

The SAA and SDF are skirmishing with the TFSA around Umm al Kayf, near Tel Tamr. Neither side is trying to advance

The Afrin Liberation forces (HRE) and TFSA are currently clashing aroudn Kafr Kalbin. Near Azaz. There are reports that the HRE has launched a raid in the area.

Currently the SDF and TFSA are clashing north of Ayn Issa.

Turkish artillery has shelled Leqleq, Zenobiya, Kafif and Bir Zenar west of Tel Abyad. ANHA reports.

I’m glad they continue to release footage because it helps confirm that stuff is indeed happening.

Jihadists could not even make it to the end of the year without killing each other in the new territory they captured.

The TFSA have fired heavy machine guns at Manbij Military Council positions in Arab Hassan village. North of Manbij.

Lots of silly rumors going around tonight. We will see if any of them are true tomorrow. I can’t speak on them in the event that it’s actually real, unfortunately.

For the past hour there have been sporadic clashes between the Manbij Military Council and TFSA at Umm Jalud, north of Manbij. No casualties reported on either side.

Should be noted that I’m not a drone guy so I basically believe anything told to me when it comes to small drones. This sometimes makes me look very silly.

More details to me: two drones. One was shot down while the other might have sustained damage. A hunting party was unable to recover the other drone so it is assumed that it returned to Turkey.
