Infighting often occurs due to dispute in division of spoils, control of checkpoints that generate revenue or attempts to stop looting. Yday, infighting broke out in the market of Tel Abyad (a town captured in last offensive) after some fighters attempted to stop the looting.

Turkey does not distribute weapons equally across factions & the factions made up of fighters displaced to the north with just light weaponry are at a disadvantage. Factions are constantly trying to improve their arsenal vs. the others to create deterrence & for future infighting

Due to dysfunction of law & order institutions, civilians seek protection from factions (usually ones whose fighters hail from the same region) against abuses of other factions. So amassing weapons is necessary for protection of civilians, usually relatives of the fighters.

For example, 70 days ago, a group of Levant Front fighters came into a shop in Efrîn of a man displaced from eastern Qalamoon & took a faucet without paying.
