Against the rise of far right bigotry and its most dangerous manifestation; Islamophobia, there is need for a national campaign before the 12 December election. I am calling on all British Muslim organisations to come together for a national day of standing against bigotry.

Imagine, the prime minister, the foreign affairs minister and many major names in the cabinet will lose their seats if and only if Labour and Lib Dem decided to be adults. What is it preventing this most logical step to be taken? This isn’t normal.

And generally I avoid people who overuse religious terms unconsciously. "Wallahi brother this is the best chicken. Wallahi" Wallahi brother I will not buy it from you.

But seriously, 'wallahi' is not like 'inshaAllah' and should not be overused. But it looks like many English speaking preachers and others use 'wallahi' as a conversation starter. It's good Imam Shafi'i is not alive to see this carnage of religious jurisprudence.

I did not expect Turkey will put the Iraqi Kurdistan flag during the visit. Turkey used to use Kurdish flag in the protocol before October 2017 but there seemed to have been a reversal on that. Turkish nationalists are also very much opposed to seeing the Kurdish flag in Turkey.

Brother Malcolm X! I’m in 2019 UK where the papers have managed to portray a lifelong anti racism campaigner as a racist while paving way for the victory of the most extremist right wing government supported by every far right hate figure. The papers are still the papers.

Quran (94:5) says فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا -verily, with every hardship comes ease!- and repeats that twice. It does not say 'When in hardship, wait! Ease will eventually come' which is the more popular notion. It says the hardship comes *with* the ease. and it is so deep.

By the way, the video is from Kirkuk and there are Kurds, Arabs and Turkmens in in. This is one of the top oil-rich cities in the world but now torn by ethnic and political rivalry. The scene you see here used to be a political system once.

"I wish I was a bird so I could fly Go to Medina and report to him all that happened" One of the things I like about Kurdish religious culture is the strong aesthetic element left from the Sufi past. Random Sufi night outs after the last prayer is one of them.pic.twitter.com/wgjQXNaB4H

If you like Sufi/spiritual literature and you aren’t aware of: Nali Mahwi Mawlawi -not Rumi- Bekhud Nari Salim Kurdi The blame is on us.

Kurdish Sufi poetry is not discovered by most non-Kurdish audiences. It is also ignored by modern Kurds who are, like most modern people, content enough with trash culture. A rediscovery & revival of Kurdish Sufi poetry will be revolutionary.

Kurdish Sufi poetry especially the part produced during Baban Emirate in Sulaimani in the 18th & 19th century is one of the best in the world of Sufism and literature. I used to think Kurdish is a poor language before reading Nali & Mahwi. Kurdish isn’t poor, modernity is.

There are 2 types of people. 1. A merchant of doubt

The description of paradise as a place where ‘One doesn’t ask to change it’ (Quran, 18:108) is intriguing. Boredom with the status quo in this form of life is so normal. Never reaching destination, never calling anywhere home are natural. Stability in this world is fragile.

Wisdom should be a believer's guide in public domain. Wisdom is far greater than saying good stuff or being honest. It includes good advice and honesty but it's more than that. A believer cannot be a liar but a believer can be unwise. Wisdom does not come necessarily with belief.

Chief Rabbi says ‘vote with your conscience’ to mean don’t vote Corbyn. Muslim Council of Britain issues ‘vote with your conscience’ to mean don’t vote Tory. Atheists say they don’t need religion to know good from evil, their conscience guides. What is conscience?

Important intervention from Lord Dubs. Labour has mishandled the AS crisis, but it is still entirely legitimate for Jews to vote for Labour if they wish. The Chief Rabbis comments were divisive and needlessly hyperbolic.https://twitter.com/BBCr4today/status/1199248935023448064…

Interesting election days in the UK. Yesterday Chief Rabbi was top trending, today Stormzy. Chief Rabbi sees Corbyn unfit for office but Stormzy sees Corbyn the last best hope for a fairer Britain. It’s actually fascinating how the entire election is about Corbyn & no one else!

Why British Jews vote Conservative is a question that can be asked and explored just as why other minorities vote Labour should be understood better. But do not let media & loud speakers dictate narratives. Look at facts not fiction.

In 2015, 69% of British Jews voted Tory. 22% voted Labour, led by a Jew! In 1997, 71% of Muslims voted Labour under Tony Blair. Support for Labour under Corbyn is still the same! But media wants you believe Jews vote against Labour & Muslims vote for Labour because of Corbyn!

I am repeating this call everyday to the election day. Do not get caught up in the side issues, the real -and may be the only- danger in the UK is the rise of a strong far right front that has strong friends in politics and media. Muslim organisations need to act, and act now.https://twitter.com/DanaNawzar/status/1198669220910903298…
