As an IU alum, this is so so embarrassing. Do better. The first amendment doesn’t extend to employment. That’s like if a coworker of mine called someone a racist slur and our CEO went “well, it’s a free country
” NO! It doesn’t work like this!!!!!

@SophRossss while you do bring up an important point, since@IndianaUniv is a public institution, it has to uphold constitutional protections that do not apply to the private sector. - 1 more reply

He was writing terrible stuff about the LGBT community all the way back in 2003 and the university knew and did nothing. Yall only care because of the backlash.

This is a nice message and all, but If this professor has these views and shares them publically as a private citizen, they are absolutely affecting his view, bias and treatment of minority students and as their superior...

...It is impossible to allow him to teach without these views impacting those he is charged with educating. Very disappointing. Your students will not feel safe nor should they. These steps you are taking are not enough. There is no room for intolerance of students like this.

He literally posted and promoted an article insisting that women do not add value to academic spaces. Consider how this affects not only his female students but the women working at this institution. He is saying this space would be better without them- this is harmful and untrue
