Are those models for removed pokemon from SwSh? They really left the models in the game? Big fat oof
I'm pretty sure Pikachu, Lucario and Butterfree are all confirmed for SwSh. I think these are side-by-side comparisons of SM models with the new games models, proving they just imported them and didn't actually create new models at all.
There are only 35 Pokemon in the game which are not in the dex. So no. There is NOT all pokemon hidden in the code. Just 35 special ones.
Doesn't seem like it to me. Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Melmetal and Nagana-- something were datamined a few days ago as being there for future distribution, in a similar fashion to Mythicals in previous generations.
If they really had all of the models for all of rhe removed Pokémon, they'd have my boy Luxray in there.

Since I haven't seen these in other threads, here's proof that they lied.
Polygon, July 13th - No, Pokémon Sword and Shield is not reusing models from recent Pokémon games | All models were remade from scratch, says Game Freak
The original interview is in Japanese with Famitsu. A post in r/Pokemon translates the highlights of it, which basically says that they claimed they had to rebuild all models from scratch, which is why they chose not to include every Pokemon.
Game Freak lied. And if anyone needs proof, ^ here it is.
All converted by hand! A hand that wrote a batch file in 2mins!
Sweet christ the comments on that article:
"Game Freak: we are using new models
People desperate to be mad: this article is probably mistranslated they’re the same models also why move to new models I am very smart and they should just use the old ones"
"It is more likely they reused some assets for demo purposes and are not in the final product."
"They are not the same models for Go"
"That’s right: either Game Freak is lying, or they don’t know how to develop a game. It has to be that, there isn’t any other possibility. Congratulations vvarden, you’ve figured out game development. And just by looking at 2 trailers on YouTube !"
Just so much denial.

How is the Japanese audience taking all this? Are they still hyped for the game or are that also discovering all this.
They're even more pissed than we are. They were the ones spamming #FuckGameFreak on twitter. Lol.
They are severely angered. The dexit announcement was only meant for USA audiences, not the Japanese. They were understandingly furious. From then it has gotten far more intense.
My co worker here in Japan is hyped and he doesn't even own a switch and the last pokemon game he played was Crystal back in the gameboy color days. The marketing is crazy. Fuck
The angry comments are currently vocal minority. Most are still hyped because they in general just hate any leaks and spoilers, negative comments are probably rushing in after release. I remember that Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have a pretty bad rating for Pokemon on JP Amazon.
I don't have any Japanese friends, but my students here in Japan who like Pokemon are all pretty uninterested in the new title. I talked with one girl today and she had completely forgot that it was even launching this Friday, and just kind of shrugged when I reminded her.
I live in Japan and well.... they cancelled the launch event for it here.

I went from being cautiously optimistic, to disappointed and buying it used, to extremely disappointed and not playing these games at all.
It sucks because I want Pokémon to be as great as I know it could be, but the current higher ups at GameFreak and The Pokémon Company just aren’t interested in making a great game. They simply want to make a game every year, and throw quality and integrity out the window.
I won’t be buying a Pokémon game again until I see major improvements. Be better, GameFreak. You’ve lost the magic that made Generations 1-5 so special, the same magic that the teams behind BotW and 3D Mario games continue to evoke in their products. It doesn’t have to be this way.
I feel like as time went on we never got the Pokémon rpg/mmo we really deserved. The potential is endless yet every year we only get rehashed games with new Pokémon. It’s pretty sad

I am actually out of 'mad'
This is shaping up to be the comedic event of the year.
I used to think that Pokémon Sword and Shield was a tragedy. But now I realize, it's a comedy.
I've found myself bouncing back and forth from those two mentalities very often.

Wait, so even though certain Pokemon were cut from the 'Dex, their models are still in the game anyways? In these images we have Alola starters, which iirc were cut, but still have ripped models from Sw/Sh (black frames). There's another post on the front page that has Bulbasaur comparison, who was also cut, and even has a slightly modified model (polygon count slightly lower than Su/Mo model)!!
Which means there's absolutely no reason for the cut from a game size/memory perspective, and they even invested time into slightly altering models of Pokemon that wouldn't be in the game anyways? Just how incompetent is this studio?
Those Pokémon are probably going to be event Pokémon like with your home subscription
Bingo. They cut the pokemon but were too incompetent to get rid of the evidence. XD
Which means there's absolutely no reason for the cut from a game size/memory perspective, and they even invested time into slightly altering models of Pokemon that wouldn't be in the game anyways? Just how incompetent is this studio?
maybe the decision for dexit came after they changed the bulbasaur model.

Man. To think I was going to finally buy my switch so I could get shield, but I ended up passing on it to buy - of all things - more shrimp for my aquarium. Guess I made the right choice and the switch purchase will wait until animal crossing.
They are really fancy shrimp btw.
edit: Sorry ya'll! I went to bed right after making this. I'll pay the shrimp tax now!! As a fair warning my tanks are super messy, but it's because I do natural/black water tanks as it makes my fish/shrimp happier and more likely to breed.
Here's my dream blue velvets:
https://i.imgur.com/RWZAjON.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/vp36if0.jpg
My jade greens (they just recently got a new 5 gallon to themselves, so that's why the plants are tiny! I snipped them from my other tanks.)
https://i.imgur.com/PfuhAW6.jpg (it's a kitchen tank but it's fun to watch while I'm in my office working.)
The reds from my RCS colony (currently the largest one)
https://i.imgur.com/Zn7Ot56.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/CQNNYRY.jpg (spot the tiny baby on the right!)
https://i.imgur.com/M6q3XGe.jpg (one of my reds with the most eggs I've ever seen on a shrimp before. female shrimp carry the eggs/care for them til they hatch into lil bab microshrimp!)
and a group of multi-colored shrimp from my large community tank trying to get an algae wafer away from my pleco:
https://i.imgur.com/o1Mt30r.jpg
as a bonus, here's one of the biggest freaking shrimp I've seen in any of my tanks. You can see she's as big as a normal sized suction-cup, bigger than the snail and oto to her left, and practically as big as the rasboras behind her. she's just an absolute unit:
https://i.imgur.com/FM9QANT.jpg
The ones I ordered last week are coming tomorrow. It's more blue dreams to add to that colony, more green jades, some black roses for another tank I have, and some blue shadow panda caridinas to try and see if I can make those work too. I know all my tanks are way dark so it's hard to see their colors, but if you google the names/colors I gave you can see how they look in general. The dream blue velvets are my favorite, I think.
***Also, as a final addition. If you are interested in getting into the world of shrimp, I highly recommend it. It's really fun. You can see a chart of the lines of shrimp here:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Neocaridina_family_tree.jpg
It's interesting to see the colors that came out of breeding certain lines of shrimp. Like how black roses came from red + blue shrimp. Shrimp also have grades from low, to high, based on the coloration on their shells. But then there are also certain colors that are so off the wall weird (like santa hat shrimp) that they kind of fit into their own coloration type while still technically being red. You'll see really unique colors/breeding lines selling for a lot of money. For example, a pack of 5 orange eye blue tiger shrimp goes for around $60. The rarest coloration I saw was metallic purple for like, $149 per shrimp.
If you set up the tank properly, they are super low maintenance. They hate changes in water parameters, so they usually only require water top-offs. You can feed them things like algae wafers, cucumber slices, etc. or they will just spend all day foraging on things in the tank.
I think fancy shrimp in an aquarium sounds really cool and you made a good choice.
If GameFreak can't make a good Pokemon game anymore, then we have to resort to raising Pokemon in real life.
had to check the username to make sure you weren't the other shrimp guy on reddit, Animal Crossing seems like a good choice.
buy an old switch, hack it in seconds and play the leaked version of the game (which is available now) and really stick it to them.
I got the special edition switch for LGPE. It's adorable and the game was nice, but it was definitely because I was psyched for whatever the next game would turn out to be. In the last year I've played BotW, Smash, Mario Odyssey, and Overcooked; I look forward to playing Untitled Goose Game, Luigi's Mansion, and Animal Crossing. There really are a lot of excellent games for the switch. While it's painful to cross off SwSh from my list, there are plenty of other franchises to root for :)

The only thing that I have realized during this entire SwSh saga, is that this is how it feels to not be part of the target demographic. This is just the first of many brands that will determine I am not the target audience anymore.
GF is more interested in the 10 year old who has 20 years of prime revenue ahead, than the 30 year old who has devoted the last 20 to their games.
It's time for me to move on, and I'm ok with that.
Craziest thing about this is the biggest games right now are all marketed towards as large an audience as possible through game mechanics that cater to casual and hardcore players alike
Swsh is CLEARLY made for toddlers which just boggles my mind, gf have lost all sense of direction, they have no vision and their director has no sense of what the fans want in the first place, which we've seen through every Pokemon game in last 5 years
It's time for me to move on, and I'm ok with that.
I'm 30, Mario Odyssey brought me back. BotW brought me back. There's no good reason for pokemon to not be able to do the same, other than corporate greed.
No. This is wrong.
The target demographic has always been children. Gen 1-6 were good to great games and they were marketed towards children. And, not despite. The older games are being replayed all the time today and being praised. I'm not part of the the target demographic for those games, not today or when Gen 6 came out. So why did I like those games? Because they were good.
I don't think SwSh are bad because I am not jnt he target demographic. I think they're bad because they're poorly made.
The target audience has never changed. What has changed is the quality of the games.
PLAY SMTV WHEN IT RELEASES.
IT'S LIKE POKÉMON EXCEPT SATAN OR JESUS CAN BE YOUR NEW BEST BUDDY.
Fuck that’s sad. Pokémon has been my favorite game series ever. My first video game ever was Yellow that I got on my birthday and then Red version that following Christmas. I have played every single Pokémon game since release and this is the first one I haven’t preordered, I actually canceled my preorder. It’s just so devastating and a lot of my friends just keep telling me you’re not the target demo, get over it. It is hard to hear and it stings, especially since these people grew up with it too. They dropped off around XY and I’m not sure if they’ve picked up their old games or not. At least I can revisit the old games and hope one day we’ll get a new game Pokémon fans deserve.
The current 10 years olds affection for the game won't last 20 years if the games are bad.
It's not that you're not part of the target audience. It's not that Game Freak is targeting a different audience now. It's that Game Freak is now shitting on what used to be part of their target audience.
This is just the first of many brands that will determine I am not the target audience anymore.
Star Wars
Harry Potter
Game of Thrones
Pokemon
The first four of my favorite IPs that have totally shit the bed and forced out their most loyal fans in order to attempt to appease the casual masses for a quick buck.
There's an issue with that argument. Mainly that the 10 year olds would absolutely also prefer a larger roster. It would keep them engaged in the game far longer.
The only way this is a beneficial business decision in the long term, is if they do actually plan to introduce the old pokemon back into newer console games. I can only imagine the shitstorm if In a year when two new games are announced, they bring back bunch of the cut roster.
Pokémon has a ton of options to keep those 10 year olds interested. Cutting bunch of recognizable and well known mon from the games is just not a good way to bring in new players.
It's time for me to move on, and I'm ok with that.
Well I'm not. Literally every other Nintendo franchise I like has managed to keep me in the target audience, because they have competent developers that realize their games don't just appeal to one age group. So why does Pokémon, the franchise I've always been the most invested in, have to be the one to shit the bed? It's making me both angry and depressed.
Their recent ad says otherwise. I get your point though and now I'm just imagining new players enjoying this game and then playing the older games. They'd be in awe and disbelief of how much better the games were when they used 2d sprites, especially gens 4 and 5 lol.
I'm not. Not because I think I should be catered to, but because I think it's disgusting that this is the level of quality game freak believe children deserve.
Which is stupid.
Because they can easily target a bigger demographic by just implementing choices/toggles.
Difficulty levels arent a brand new idea either, Game Freak. FOR FUCK'S SAKE

Gamefreak lied. You know, we have only ourselves to blame. I was hoping to enjoy Pokemon forever but at 32 it seems my journey ends.
I expected the same fellow 30+ years old. But I found my self spending less time in each generation. It's a real shame it has to end with the first home console game that I wanted since N64.
Another fellow 30+ year old and fan of Pokémon for over 20 years. For the first time ever I won’t be able to go on an adventure with my all time favorite Pokémon, because they’re not good enough for Galar I guess. Why bother? I always try new Pokémon too, I recently made a list of my top 50 and it had barely any Gen 1 on it. But I could always catch or trade for my favorites.
Now, when they pick and choose who is worthy of inclusion it’s like a slap in the face. Every Pokémon is somebody’s favorite. Pokémon isn’t Pokémon without the Pokémon. You don’t build a series based around building bonds of friendship, “gotta catch em all”, and then expect people to abandon the Pokémon they like.
29 years old. Same here. From the first time I laid eyes on Pokemon stadium at a friends house I have wanted a full 3d game on a home console. GameFreak has severely let me down. But in this day and age of gaming, we'll just add their name to the list of fallen from grace developers
Add another 30+ lamenting. I got Red and Blue and a Gameboy Color the year they were first available for Christmas... I have to ask that little boy to officially grow up now
22 here, I also expected myself to play Pokemon until my flesh prison expires, guess I'll have to find a new hobby.
I have no interest in Sh/Sw with all this nonsense that has been going on. That said, I'm pretty keen to go through Soul Silver for the first time since it came out almost ten years ago.
21 now, but I started playing blue/red when I was 6 or 7. Played at least one game from every dual release except g/s and us/um. Sucks that it has to end here
What if I told you there was a monster game, that doesn't shy away from adult themes, has many iconic characters, plays fantastic, and looks absolutely gorgeous, that you can get right now for $12.
Edit: Digimon Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory. They did right by us.
I mean you can still enjoy the old games. Just because you won't play the newest generation doesn't mean that you have to stop your Pokemon journey. A few friends of mine decided to return to Gen IV instead of getting Sword and Shield since most of us just skimmed through those games when we first played them at release. There's also a lot of romhacks and fan-made games that keep the old spirit of Pokemon alive and well.
Not 30 yet but almost 27. I'll see how this one goes because I was about to get it pretty cheap. It does seem that our journeys are coming to an end soon enough
I blame myself as well. Another 30-something. I remember hearing about Pocket Monsters from Nintendo Power and not knowing if it would actually make it over here because that was never a sure thing back then. Was so excited when it was confirmed to be a thing.
I've bought every generation, sometimes even buying the "patch game". Welp, guess I'm done with that.
I’ll add my voice here. As a 31 year old parent....I have been super excited about using the new games to introduce my daughter to the world of Pokémon. She has watched me play Let’s Go and I was so excited for her to use the switch and maybe even start her own adventure. And yes, I had always planned on showing her the originals....but I was hopeful the graphics and everything the switch has to offer would draw her in.
AND I won’t even be able to show her some of my favorite Pokémon! Which is literally the worst.
What's really weird is I'm pushing 24, which is around the same time a lot of you guys gave up the series because of gen 5. Strange coincidence.

You have to stop thinking that you're in charge and start thinking that you're having a dance. We used to think we're smart [...] but nobody is smarter than the internet. [...] One of the things we learned pretty early on is 'Don't ever, ever try to lie to the internet - because they will catch you. They will de-construct your spin. They will remember everything you ever say for eternity.'
You can see really old school companies really struggle with that. They think they can still be in control of the message. [...] So yeah, the internet (in aggregate) is scary smart. The sooner people accept that and start to trust that that's the case, the better they're gonna be in interacting with them.
Thanks gaben

The hashtag has just reach trending on twitter, let’s keep it going
Here's the sad fact of the matter,
Gamefreak can lie, make the game boring, short and as many minimal if not no features as possible and people will still buy it. Nintendo will still market it. The POKÉMON company international will still promote the hell out of these games no matter what. And Yknow what? Things like POKÉMON GO have made more revenue than a lot of franchise console games. It's sad because they don't look at the happiness or quality of response and reviews, it's money. IGN will give this game a 9/10 because nintendo pays them off or some bias person reviews the game.
And Yknow what, maybe were right and maybe they understand our complaints, so what next year you get Ultra Sword and Ultra Shield with the full Dex and some small other features? That doesn't fix half of the problems, but they get double the money.
I'm not buying this game or any Pokémon product from this point forward until things are straightened out.
I'd kind of like it if this just got GF taken off Pokemon, but I know it won't happen.
Metacritic will give them hell, the user reviews will show how people upset about GameFreak this time.

It's still Bethesda. Todd's sweet little lies about fallout 76 are still worse, not to mention the recent Fallout First debacle. While this has been a complete disaster to the point where I no longer plan on buying Sword/Shield, I still fully expect that the games will function on release.
While this lie is pretty damn huge, it's not lawsuit huge.
Is Bethesda really the new bad guy? Apart from one fucked up game (FO76) and the micro transactions for mods on ps4/xbone they haven't fucked anything up, right?
Compared to EA and the whole battlefront shit storm, or epic shit store etc. Bethesda still sound like one of the better ones to me (haven't played fo76).

Honestly, something seems so off with the way GameFreak have handled this entire thing.
Like, don’t they realise that Pokémon games have been getting mined and picked apart for the last 20 years? Surely somebody there would have known that all of these claims about re-doing the models from scratch would have been caught out rather quickly. There’s no way they were oblivious to it.
Agreed. I'm genuinely curious, from a business perspective, what does this achieve for them? How was this a plausible decision knowing it would be tried and tested? And what exactly was their trade off for reusing models while removing more than half the dex? I'm not saying in exchange for features. I'm asking if they were honestly in a time crunch and needed the resource. Or was it something else we're missing? Sure, we can compact 'laziness' as an answer but that's not something you can explain to higher ups (again, what is the business goal here???). Why even lie about it in the first place? Gf's objectives feel off.
Is this our comeback to #ThankYouGameFreak and #IstandWithSeribii? I like it
Out of the loop. What's the deal with the Serebii hashtag?
Joined the hashtag. It's not even that reused assets are bad - in this case it WOULD be perfectly fine, providing they hadn't claimed cut content for remaking them! (Which I stated in my Tweet) It's just a great big mess and Pokemon is so dear to me so it hurts more than it should. And no, I'm not buying the game anyway. Maybe used further down the line, but definitely not new.
I'm seeing an astounding number of people who think we are complaining about reused models and nothing else. I don't know how shallowly someone would have to look at this outrage to come to that conclusion but...
Can you even believe that they fucked up the ONE THING THEY PROMISED.
Tbh we were all suspecting this from the start

Nobody knows how much No Man's Sky will suck prior to release. This one, however...
No mans skys devs atleast cared about the game and fixed it. I don't think thats gonna happen with Sword and Shield.
The Dexit thing back when it was revealed absolutely made sure I wasn't getting Sword/Shield. Everything else that has been discovered lately is just salt in the wound. It's fucking shameful.

The autumn colors make this look so good, even on a DS. I think this looks better than any Pokemon game on the 3DS, and even most of the Wild Area. It's a perfect combination of just enough detail, and not enough so your imagination can also go wild.

What will Gamefreak/The Pokemon Company do in the year 300,000 when confronted with this universe-shattering conundrum?
Gold and Silver were released on November 21, 1999.
20 years ago, Game Freak released (widely agreed) one of the best entries in the entire series of mainline Pokemon games.
Let us throw away all the infighting among Pokemon fans right now. Let us take a moment to discuss the happiness, memories, and wonder Gold and Silver brought us.
Happy 20th Birthday, Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. To Satoru Iwata and Game Freak of 1999, a massive thanks from all of us for everything done that made these games great. We all thank you for pouring your Heart and Soul into these games.
In my opinion this is one of the things holding back the series almost more than anything else. Pokémon will always sell because of its mass appeal and simplicity, and nobody ever stops to ask "can this be done better?" or "what does the field have that Pokémon lacks?". This is not to say that Pokémon needs massive overhauls to its core gameplay – complexity is not necessarily improvement and the mass appeal of Pokémon is a staple – but it is to say that at the very least it should be compared to games that largely fit the same category. Would most people think, from a feature and scope and polish standpoint, the new Pokémon games compare favourably to Dragon Quest or Shin Megami Tensei or Xenoblade? Probably not.
It's not just "a Pokémon game", it's "a AAA JRPG title from one of the world's largest and most profitable studios". I still don't know what magic they pulled to be able to escape that very obvious observation.
Oh my god.. You crazy bastard. DID YOU JUST USE A TYPE ADVANTAGE!? I CANT BELIEVE THIS THING WHAT YOU DONE! Who told you about type advantages!? WHO TOLD YOU!? Wait a tick did you... DID YOU JUST USE ANOTHER TYPE ADVANTAGE!? YOU’RE INSANE!? IM SO SURPRISED YOU DID THIS THAT I DEFINITELY WONT COMMENT ON IT EVERY TIME WE BATTLE AGAIN!
This ends my Hop appreciation post.
Edit: Thanks for my first ever silver friend, I honestly didn’t think my shitpost about Hop would get this much traction lol
Some of the cities are aesthetically gorgeous. Pokémon like Corviknight absolutely GRABBED ME. I am so stoked for how cool that dude looks! Being able to change natures and boost stats with Mints & Candies is such an inuititive solution to a generational problem. There are some genuinely hilarious bits of Brit in the localization. Even the Camp & CurryDex, for all the controversy that has occurred in its wake, is such a charming idea.
There is no universe where the creation of THIS MASTERPIECE OF A MAN was not a labour of love.
I don't think anyone goes to GameFreak with the thought process that "I'll just make an OK Pokémon game." Many young people who are getting into Game Development from all corners of the globe did so because Pokémon inspired them to do it! And parts of the game OOZE that level of affection. You can see the bones of a beautiful labour of love, a unique region with a unique take on Pokémon battles.
But... executive meddling? Budget limitations? Poor time management? Strict deadlines? Maybe just senior staff/project leads not giving a shit? SOMETHING(s) went wrong. The good parts of SwSh are like love letters to the franchise adrift in a sea of cut corners, half-realized ideas, and deliberate misinformation/straight up lies from the people above them. It sucks.
I don't really know where I was going with this, honestly! I'm just bummed. My heart goes out to the people on the ground floor at GameFreak who genuinely tried to pour their heart into this only for some other bozos to fuck it up for, let's be honest, what seems to be the scummy upselling of a likely subscription service and to use FOMO to sell next year's game. It sucks for them and for us and I hope whatever wonderful monster(s) at GameFreak designed Manlet Meowth and that boss babe Runegrigus get to work on an actual title worthy of their craftsmanship and the Pokémon name sooner rather than later.
An interview with a technical artist on Game Freak's website says the following: テクニカルアーティストとして、主に『ポケットモンスター』シリーズのモデル表現周りを担当しています。具体的には、Nintendo Switchに対応したシェーダーの開発や、モデルの仕様決定、過去に制作したモデルを効率よくリファインするための方針決定を行っています。
This translates to “I am a technical artist and I am primarily in charge of model expression for the game series “Pokemon”. Specifically, I work on the development of the shaders for the Nintendo Switch, deciding model specifications, and methods for efficiently refining previously-made models.”

Blasphemy, I know. But I am really liking this game. I’ve been a hardcore fan since I was 6, and Pokémon is one of the few things that followed me into adulthood. With all the negativity I’m seeing, I wanted to be one of the few positive opinions.
Dexit: I honestly didn’t mind. I play for the new Pokémon when I buy these games. Im the kind of person that finishes a game and then sells it back immediately, so I wasnt too hurt about not being able to “Catch ‘em all.”
Short story: This is also personal, but I don’t mind it. As an adult who works 40-60 hours a week, I don’t have the time I used to. It’s refreshing to have a game that I know I’ll complete in a couple weeks, as opposed to a sprawling game I’ll just forget about once life gets too busy.
Difficulty: I made my peace with this long ago. But I am hopeful that the games will get a little tougher as the new generations grow up. Maybe. If not, I don’t mind. That covers everything from the exp share to the hand-holding.
The things I love:
Backpacking through Europe is essentially what you’re doing and I think it’s so cool.
Why weren’t Wild Zones a thing before? I’m spending so much time exploring these things, and it feels like the next step is using these to replace routes.
Pokémon battles as a stadium, spectator-sport is how I always imagined Pokémon. Hardcore fans with body paint, a huge field, televised to the world, etc. I’m so excited to put on my uniform and walk out onto the pitch.
Curry. It’s just fun.
Gigantamax are basically boss battles. I’ve had so much fun raiding the dens.
Clothing. This is one of the best things they ever added and I’m always excited for it. It always feels like there’s never enough clothing options in the games. I always want more and more. I hope this becomes the first Pokémon game DLC just so I can have more clothing.
As a hardcore fan, there’s a lot more I want out of Pokémon games. But I’m actually fine with what we have in SwSh. I’m loving it and can’t wait to play more after work today.
EDIT: additional positive points from u/iprizefighter
• fast map transport before the first gym • fast ground transport after the first gym • Pokemon box link • namerater and move deleter/rememberer guy in every pokecenter • the daycare is before the second gym • Wonder Trading is better because you can do it while actually playing the game • access to most (maybe all?) Apricorn Balls extremely early (personal favorite QoL) • ABILITY TO AVOID RANDOM ENCOUNTERS AND TRAINERS • MASSIVE variety of Pokemon to choose from before the first gym, even larger as you work towards the third • important items like Everstone very early
EDIT 2:
I want so badly to reply to everyone who is loving the game like I am, but my inbox is filling faster than I can reply. I’m really glad you’re all here, and you should make some posts in the sub.
Also, I’m so glad to see how many of you are playing SwSh as your first Pokémon game. Welcome to a fandom where you’ll have 20 years of content to catch up on! You’re going to love all the games. My personal favorites are X and Y.
I’m trying my best to talk with all of you. Please don’t be mad if I can’t.
Only excuse I might take for it would be they're not familiar with Switch tech enough to bring it back yet.
Beyond that though - the GTS made Pokemon so much more accessible to those who maybe didn't have a gob of friends with tons of free time to just meet up and trade. Pretty sure it boosted the amount of people interested in Pokemon at the time it was introduced, too. It is just astounding that someone at GameFreak thought this was a wise idea to cut from the game - it literally is like being asked by your school to stop using the Internet for research in this digital age and go back to the library and thumb through the musty encyclopedias for a report.
My name is Pokémon Champion Leon. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Galar, where all the villas are, and I am undefeated. I work as a Champion for the Galar Region, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't get defeated, but I occasionally I gigantamax my Charizard. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure my Charizard and I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a bowl of warm curry and doing about twenty minutes of Charizard training before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, my Charizard and I wake up without being defeated in the morning. I was told there were no defeats at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life with my Charizard. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me or Charizard to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me and my Charizard happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

It started couple months ago and now I have really big urge to draw at least one a month.
Using only colored pencils and a lot of patience!
Something similar to Silver’s story. You break into a pokemon lab, steal a starter, and you get confronted by the professor. He/she lectures you and your first battle is against the games “main character” who picks the starter with the type advantage. You beat them escape and begin working for the evil team and help them steal pokemon/do bad shit. You somewhat complete gym challenge and start to change over time and redeem yourself at the end with a confrontation with your boss and his 4 admins instead of the regions champion and elite 4.
