I pitched the idea to Al, he loved it, I recorded the first three episodes in one marathon with my friends @doggans, @TheWire2, @thegreatlukeski and @Bogroff1, and it seemed like "Escape From Vault Disney" was up and running.

I submitted all the raw files to Al, along with specific instructions on how I wanted it edited. And our Twitter DM convo continued...pic.twitter.com/B2stdUV8IG

(And, I hasten to repeat, I ONLY agreed to do this podcast in the first place under the promise that he would edit it for me. I do not have time to make videos AND edit a weekly podcast.)

Well, this afternoon, Al sent me a link to the Soundcloud page where he posted his "final edit" of the podcast episode. I listened to it, and I was fucking appalled. He had followed practically NONE of my instructions.

We sounded like shit. I asked him to cut out the awkward sentence false-starts, and he had barely cut out any of them. There were tons of awkward pauses and unprofessional "um"s and "y'know"s...

...Basically, the kinda stuff I take great lengths to cut out of One Movie Later and my vlogs whenever possible, which is what makes my videos WATCHABLE. And in an audio-only format, you have even MORE flexibility to remove that shit!

We had recorded the episode in three segments - our preconceptions BEFORE watching the movie, our review AFTER watching the movie, and our teaser for the next episode.

I specifically told Al, "I want music at the beginning, at the end, and between segments 1 and 2, but NOT between segments 2 and 3. Just edit it so it sounds like we don't stop talking." He either didn't notice that, or deliberately disobeyed me. Between segments 2 and 3? Music.

And in Al's "final edit," Luke's mic in segment 3 was REALLY low-quality, like it was only being picked up by the other mics. I went back, listened to my raw files, and when I amplified it properly, Luke's voice was coming through clear as day.

PLUS, Al had added a sound byte from the movie in question to the very end of the episode without consulting me first, BUT for some fuckawful reason it was only in the right channel. This was the guy I was trusting to edit my podcast?

I sent Al a DM basically asking, "dude, wtf?" And we had THIS convo in response, which turned out to be the end of it:pic.twitter.com/aNuHNXYk0H

So...yeah. Moral of the story is, don't trust @al_kane_. He promises what he's not willing to deliver, he doesn't read notes properly, he's a gaslighter, he'll waste your time...

...And I find it VERY hard to believe that his "clients and coworkers really appreciate" what he does, when what he does is LOADED with basic-ass mistakes that no professional would ever get away with. Anyone wanna edit my podcast for me?

Fer Chrissakes, if he thinks "overediting doesn't sound human" then WHAT THE FUCK IS HE DOING WATCHING *MY* VIDEOS?!?

Alternatively, if he likes my videos because I DO manage to make overediting sound human, then I GUESS I KNOW WHAT THE FUCK I'M TALKING ABOUT DON'T I?

So, you legit ask this guy what he worked on and his response is "We're done?" Yeah, sounded like this dude heard an internet personality was looking for an editor and saw star in his eyes, sorry dude.

I wasn't even LOOKING for an editor! I had zero intention of doing a podcast at all before this joker contacted me out of the blue. I'd almost be pissed off that I wasted my time on it, except now I'm too excited about the idea.
