14. If the actor is good, what difference does it make who plays the part? The argument that actors should only play characters that match their ethnicity and gender means that a lot of ethnic actors from the Golden and Silver Age of television and movies would have never gotten parts, such as Ricardo Montalban, Yul Brynner, Michael Ansara, et al.
It also prevents women from playing traditionally male characters, like Agent 007 or Doctor Who. And let's not forget that it would also prevent those with black skin from playing traditionally white characters.
Actors act. It's what they do. If an actor is good at his or her job and is the best choice for the part, it shouldn't matter, should it?
