Made it through 11,788 Russian Harry Potter fanfic character names before encountering the annotation футанари. Thought it might be an older loanword, but nothing in the dictionary. Staring at the transliteration, I realized: it's Japanese. ふたなり for androgyny.
Also enjoying the bifurcation between Russian Harry Potter fanfic writers who know how "Seamus" is supposed to be pronounced (Шеймус 'sheimus'), and the much larger pool of writers who go with the more intuitive Сим(м)ус 'seemus'.
Is Симус his name in the official translation in Russian? I wonder how much of the Си- camp is knowingly do that because it's the official translation regardless of how the name in the original English text is supposed to sound.
