Hello to the forum
to block forever and get rid of the autoplay next video function on youtube when you browse without user account and your browser has the "clean cookies on exit" scenario selected
it was enough with classic youtube layout to locate the .js script that loads autoplay activation on site
and insert a custom filter rule
||youtube.com/yts/jsbin/*/watch_autoplayrenderer.js$important
BUT
with new layout this has changed
can you please provide the updated script that loads youtube autoplay feature ?
I have been testing these out, they are in "My Filters", they seem to work on the new and old layout. No cookies required.
/watch_autoplayrenderer.js$script,domain=www.youtube.com
/annotations_module.js$script,domain=www.youtube.com
/endscreen.js$script,domain=www.youtube.com
thanks dear cye5!
your custom filter seems to work fine !
saved me from this autoplay annoyance
Have you tried Youtube Center developer version? You can run the script in Tampermonkey. Amongst its features is the ability to disable autoplay.
I have the reverse problem, suddenly ublock blocks the button from working, everytime i press it the counter on the icon increments and the action is blocked. I hate autoplay and i cant switch it off... Which filter do i have to remove to get it working again?
nvm just add those lines to the whitelist if you have my problem
A headsup, I'm starting to feel like an activist, with one goal: Turn everybody in a uBlock Origin user (or similar). But I need your help as I cannot do this alone, so I submitted https://webtest.app to ProductHunt here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/webtest-app-let-s-block-ads, and I also open sourced it: https://github.com/aberforthQ/puppeteer-split-test. The license is Public Domain, so feel free to copy, adapt and release a variant yourself! I don't have the resources (time and money) to keep this service running at al times. It might go down at night, multiple droplets cost money etc.
Some ideas for future versions:
Firefox support
Stats on the most popular trackers (which ad networks are the worst)
Automatic tweets to bad websites
A feature standard to all major speedtest tools out there

Any solutions for this unacceptable restriction on Eurogamer?
edit:
I should mention this only happens on a few pages.
The one I first saw this on was this page:
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-10-29-the-outer-worlds-reputation-factions-6050
Frontpage is fine, most articles are ok as well, however, there are a few pages where I see this overlay on.
Without it excessive use of page scrolling down to what you're queried or not, is a waste of time! :(
¿Got a better blocking-set? if so then please post your code here in the comments 🎃

Can there be any incompatibility or conflicts between uBo and Firefox with this new feature? uBo already blocks most of these trackers by default.
Hello. To save valuable internet data, right now I use:
YouTube Thumbnails - Full Video Thumbnails for YouTube monkey script, to see thumbnail storyboards. I would then know via such if the preview thumbnail is fake, hence if I would like to see or save the video.
AMO downloaders like YouTube Downloader Lite and YouTube Video and Audio Downloader to conveniently extract the individual addresses then appropriately pick, but not actually download with them.
Copy the addresses to a third-party, open-source downloader like FDM 3.9.7 to finally save into the hard disk. FDM for example has advantages like resuming, sections, etc. over the AMO ones above.
Is there a way for uBO to block actual Youtube videos from downloading to the background (thus autoplay too)?
If possible, I would like to 100% stop it from the very start. If it could be done with uBO, especially to save expensive data, then I would really like it to be with uBO instead of possible combinations of extensions and monkey scripts, to reduce clutter, and thus easy export of settings to be used to other uBO-compatible browsers if ever.
Thanks!
Here's an example page.
You can see it here along with the DOM and here is the HTML responsible.
Trying to block the elements with the picker of course doesn't work...

The numbers are randomly generated so some kind of [id^=""] thing is needed but I don't really understand how selectors work.
They also have something blocking scrolling even if those are blocked and I'm not sure what's responsible for that.
There was something similar on sankaku and I managed to get it stopped with...

Hi!
Non technical person on this end of the keyboard.
How can I block certain domains and subdomains for the specific domain with uBlock Origin?
I have found a few nice lists:
https://github.com/nickspaargaren/pihole-google
At the bottom of this site there are also links to block Facebook, Apple etc. I thought that combining those lists to one is a bit over my skills so thought that maybe I could block with uBlock just a few key domains and subdomains. any hints how to do it?
It's somewhat confusing on how uBlock works. If I'm in normal mode (browser.privatebrowsing.autostart - false) and update the filters two folders are created in storage/default if the previous ones were deleted. One is a small size and the other larger, which I assume is the filter updates. When switching to always in private (browser.privatebrowsing.autostart - true) I have to update the filters again and the previously smaller folder grows. So uBlock works in two modes, one for normal and the other private?
The problem I'm experiencing in the 72 nightly is that the always in private is not holding the filters, after a couple of starts I have to update again. As per a previous thread browser.tabs.documentchannel was toggled to false but it's not helping. Using uBlock version 1.23.1.16.
Another smaller problem is that the dashboard text in the nightly is huge for some reason, although for now I can just zoom it out.
Apparently Gelbooru caught wind of Ublock, cause every time I have it on the images won't load. if I turn it off, it shows a message saying " Running some third party tools will intentionally break our site and disable features and basic functionality. Remember you can disable ad types in Settings->Options if you log into your account."
Example: example.abc example.def example.xyz and so on.
How do I block any form of the domain? I need to use this in conjuction with my current rule:
example.abc##.this-div-content
So I'm not able to click on the episode number as there seems to be an ad on the whole screen of the website, which redirects me to another site and it does not go away... Also, it seems like the number of ads blocked is only at 10%, even in other websites such as youtube. Should I be worried about this? I use google chrome by the way.
got:There was a network error. Please try again. (Error #2000) on Twitch, error is gone when i disable ublock
Anyone with the same problem? any solution? Thanks
I use a userContent.css file to change the color of the background in the content area of blank tabs, because it's visible and distracting while pages load.
Element Picker adopts the color and opacity of the background to create the overlay that dims the page while selecting the items to filter.
If the opacity set in the css file is 100%, which I want, then it's also completely opaque when using the picker, and the screen content can't be seen.
Is there a way to prevent uBlock from pulling in that color property when using the picker?
This is going to be an obscure webpage for you all, but I use it very frequently. In this webpage https://epaper.eenadu.net/Home/Index with ublock, next and previous buttons(shown in the Image) are not working.
Please help me. Thanks in advance.
Happening to anyone else using all the suggested filters + no script and cant stop them.
A friend brought this behaviour up today while clicking on the url given on reddit for a site that I believe used to post scans of manga. The tab opens, and then immediately closes again. No crash error or anything, nothing else opens. Googling the site does return it in the results, but all it says is google has no information about the page. One of the links in question is the following: Asked me about it and honestly I can't figure it out. Wasn't aware if Ublock sometimes just closes tabs immediately, but I don't think chrome does it, so it was all I could think of.
Edit: Ok so first of all I have removed that link. Don't paste it in. I used the logger, and got the following: popup sarah.trktnc.com. So my question is this: Does ublock treat certain links, if opened under a certain circumstance as a popup, and instead of warning you, it just automatically closes the tab, as it treats it like a popup?
Also, this is what virustotal returns after my AV blocked the connection attempts when I loaded it directly: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ip-address/178.128.246.195/relations. Seems to be a known malware address.
I have pretty much combed the whole subreddit for an answer but haven't been able to solve this. When Firefox is closed and I open a link, cosmetic filters don't work. Very reproducible in ars technica. Once I refresh the site, everything works fine.
I have tried playing with 'suspendTabsUntilReady' advanced setting to no avail. My storage tests are all good too. Please advice on things to try next.
FF Android beta 68.3b2 uBO v.1.23.0 Pixel 3a
Edit: Ok, this issue is what I seem to be having. So if I understand it correctly, FF hasn't fixed this for 2 years?
Ublock origin no longer seems to be blocking those for me. Is there some setting I can change or additional domain I can add to make it work again?
I notice firefox is blocking the same UBO is and wondered if theres a point to have firefox's on. I just have the standard tracking protection on.
Right now, I'm not allowing any ads on youtube, but I'd like to add some channels to a whitelist, to support them.
But I can't seem to find a good way to do this since the link for youtube video does not have the creator in it (or at least I don't know about it).
So do you guys have some ideas about how could I do this? Is it even possible with the way uBlock works?
This fucking infuriating. I block all the video elements and sure enough the video doesn't come back when I reload - but the sound does and you can't kill it because there's no icon to click on.
Anyone dealt with this site before?
Latest version of uBO, Brave browser, Win10. I can give more info if needed.
