上級国民 (じょうきゅうこくみん)

Upper-class Citizens

1. This is a word to cynically refer to bureaucrats and politicians.

官僚(かんりょう) や 政治家(せいじか)を 皮肉(ひにく)った言葉(ことば)です。

2. An elderly former bureaucrat caused a serious car accident this April.

高齢(こうれい)の 元(もと)官僚(かんりょう)が、 この 4月(しがつ)に大(おお)きな 自動車(じどうしゃ)事故(じこ)を 起(お)こし ました。

3. Since he was not arrested and reports in the media were less censorious than usual, people criticized him saying, “It’s probably because he is an upper-class citizen.”

逮捕(たいほ)されず、 メディア(めでぃあ) での 扱(あつか)い も通常(つうじょう)より 厳(きびし)く なかった ため、「上級国民

(じょうきゅうこくみん)だから では」 という批判(ひはん)の 声(こえ)が 上(あが)り ました。
