The image that keeps coming to my mind after the TPL talk consists of the walk out of the library. The first person I see is a tall man LARPing as a woman and his look at me, like he is sad I am hurting him. He is holding a sign comparing us to misogynists. It's been bothering me a lot this image. Not because I feel bad, because I don't, because of what this symbolizes.

Here we have a grown man cosplaying as a woman. Saying we are the misogynists. A man who has decided that HE has more right to Woman that I, an actual woman. That HE has the right to redefine us, redefine our reality. To make it near impossible to even discuss our oppression apart from men, therefor to make it impossible to fix or address our oppression. That this bastard feels he not only has a right to be woman, destroying our rights in the process, that he feels he can browbeat and try to shame actual women into feeling sorry for sticking up for ourselves.

How fucking narcissistic do you have to be to co-opt an identity, claim it as your own and whine and scream when you get some fight back? How much do you have to hate women to stand there attempting to shame women for daring to discuss how he and his fellow fucking males are hurting women's rights? What a complete fucking asshole.

The Vancouver Rape Relief & Women's Shelter is the *ONLY* remaining rape crisis center and shelter in all of #canada that exclusively serves #biologicalwomen (this includes trans men, by the way, they've stated that "since trans men were born female and have our shared experience until they transition, they are welcome to all our services."). Because of the integrity of this organization to protect the rights of women and to not allow biological men or transwomen to use their services, the city of #Vancouver recently shamefully decided to cut their funding grant.

Unbelievably, trans rights activists somehow thought it wasn't a monstrous thing to celebrate this as a win.

I will say this: if any group or individual feels that it is a victory to cut funding to a centre that provides services such as counselling and shelter to abuse victims and their children, and those fleeing mortally dangerous circumstances, then one must look at the motivations of said group or individual.

It is a monstrous and repulsive act to cheer for the suffering of women.

Read the history of the #VancouverRapeRelief centre on their website. The center was started by a small group of #women in 1973 as "they started the first rape crisis center in Canada when they realized there were no services for women that had been raped."

Here's an idea for all of those who put so much energy into protesting and vandalizing the #VRR , how about put your energy and resources into creating and gathering funding for a trans women rape relief and crisis shelter? Put all that energy into creating the world you say you want (support and access to services for transwomen in crisis). When you force your way into women's protected spaces, demanding to be included in womens most private and vulnerable experiences, you appear insincere in your motives of just wanting equal rights for all. This is clearly a demand to exert power over women. Your lack of empathy towards abused and vulnerable women is staggering and heartbreaking.

I believe *everyone*, yes including trans individuals, deserve human rights and access to crisis services. If you are truly so concerned with trans women having access to this type of service but they don't want to use the service centre that matches their biological sex, then perhaps it's time for a group to get together (as those 3 women did in 1973) and create your very own centre. I am CERTAIN that our Canadian government would be more than happy to help with funding for this.

I loudly applaud the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women's shelter for digging their heels in and not allowing bullies and aggressive tantrum throwers to push them around. They have stuck to their "women only" policy and continue to protect the rights and safety of women and children. 👏 👏 👏 👏
