I love my country, but the collective ignorance of the American people empowers so-called public servants who abuse their positions of trust to push policies that further individual agendas at the expense of the nation they ostensibly serve. Fact-based logic no longer matters.

  2. In the coming weeks and months the U.S. will have to decide whether it values its relationship with Turkey, a NATO ally, over a man the Turks revile as a terrorist, and yet has provided the U.S. with yeoman’s service in the fight against ISIS.

“[Vindman] told lawmakers that he was deeply troubled by what he interpreted as an attempt by the president to subvert U.S. foreign policy.” Doesn’t the president set U.S. foreign policy?

  4. So Congressional Democrats who espouse a “never Trump” philosophy get to use the power of Congress to try and dig up dirt on the President in the name of “oversight”, but Trump uses the powers of the Executive to expose corruption by Biden and it’s a crime...go figure.

  5. Why are all the pundits continuously referring to Ukraine as an “ally”? What defense-related Treaty relationship do we have that affords such a status. Ukraine is a cesspool of corruption, unworthy of a single drop of American blood in its defense.

  6. LtCol Vindman’s opinion is just that—an opinion. Why this officer’s testimony is being given consideration is baffling. He is not a major player or policy maker—he advises on policy and then implements. He has a right to his opinion, but a Purple Heart does not make it Gospel.

  7. At a time when the credibility of the United lies in tatters, Russia has emerged as the one major power whose loyalty to its allies is unquestioned, and whose ability to serve as an honest broker between seemingly intractable opponents is unmatched.

  8. Kudos to JSOC, but how many millions of dollars did we spend hunting down and killing an old man who has been/already was replaced by an organization we helped create? As long as they are better at making them than we are at killing them, this war on terror will never end.

  9. Democrats—if you can nominate a candidate who will guarantee the US won’t put our military at risk defending other nation’s oil resources, I would vote for him/her. Biden? No. Warren? No. Sanders? I don’t know. Anyone? Ah, yes...Tulsi. Come on, America...this isn’t that hard!

  10. As the horrific reality of the true character of the so-called “moderate Syrian rebels” is put on graphic display, maybe the world will stop condemning Russia for bombing the al-Qaeda Islamists operating in Idlib; these aren’t good people, and Russia is helping eradicate them.

  11. The US position is unsustainable. It's just a question of time until even the most hawkish of policymakers recognizes this harsh new reality of the US position at Syria's oil fields and the last remaining US forces in Syria are ordered home.

  12. As the situation in Syria reaches endgame, the various positions taken by Higgins/Bellingcat regarding allegations of CW use by the Syrian Government will, one by one, be exposed as unsubstantiated and lacking in any factual basis. That day cannot come soon enough.

  13. Once the dust settles on the Russophobia that has infected America, historians will reflect on the role played by Russia in facilitating America’s extrication from the policy disaster that was Syria. It wasn’t pretty, but no Americans died, a fact Trump’s many detractors ignore.

  14. He goes by the code name “Green Kryptonite”; he is a walking, talking parody.

Putin used a new Russian device to hypnotize Hillary into recklessly accusing Tulsi of being a Kremlin asset, thus triggering the division he craves. Pre-Putin, the US had no domestic divisions or strife. This is the paranoid idiocy being spread by ex-security state officials:

  16. Best political ad of the season so far.

  17. Read very carefully: Elizabeth Warren doesn’t have a clue, a plan or any credibility to be our next Commander in Chief.

  18. The American presence in Syria was never going to end well—bad policy never does. At least our forces left Syria alive, and not inside body bags—a real alternative had they remained to face the overwhelming forces of geopolitical reality in transition.

  19. It’s curious how when the discussion turns to the DoJ questioning the legality of John Brennan and certain CIA analysts in shaping intelligence about Russian interference in 2016, one of the CIA officials you’ve singled out as having played a roll blocks you on Twitter...

List of people that aren’t Russian assets: 1. President Trump 2. Tulsi Gabbard 3. Just about every American because it’s a stupid accusation. And yet it has somehow been normalized by the Democrat Party as a legitimate political attack. Anything for power.

  22. Josh Rogin just claimed on CNN that Syria created ISIS as a vehicle for highlighting Assad’s secularism as Syria’s best governing alternative. He delivered this message with a straight face. CNN did not challenge him. This is the exact opposite of reality.

  23. Of course, we should all recognize that Hillary made this story up. She never was possessed of the kind of patriotism it took to join the military. This bit of fiction was intended to deflect from this harsh reality, and stands in sharp contrast to the true patriotism of Tulsi.

  24. About that time HRC walked into an Arkansas recruiting center in 1975... “He [USMC recruiter] looks at me and goes, 'Um, how old are you?' And I said, 'Well I am 26, I will be 27,'" Clinton said. "And he goes, 'Well, that is kind of old for us.'" Give that Marine a medal.

  25. Professor Postol first appeared on my radar in 1992, when he questioned the performance of the Patriot missile during the Gulf War. He was right to challenge conventional wisdom then, as he is right to do so about Syria today. This is a sad day for those who search for truth.

  26. “France has always played a double game in Syria...We are trapped by a paradox, which reflects the essence of our inaction...This is not about the United States, not about Germany, not about us, the French, but about Russia.” Damn those French and their Russian talking points.

  27. The most American attribute possible is the willingness to engage in informed debate about difficult topics. Facts are the weapons of any policy dispute. If your only response is “that’s a Russian talking point”, you’re out of ammunition and it’s time to shut up.

  28. Tell me again how our presence in Syria is all about defending our Kurdish allies, and nothing about regime change in Damascus?

  29. Just a reminder about what really matters.

  30. I have previously stated that the M4000 CW bomb was a unitary fill only. My observation was derived from this Russian-provided schematic, nothing more. I don’t have any informed insight into the technical characteristics of Syrian chemical weapons beyond what this diagram shows.

If impeachment is driven by these hyper partisan interests, it will only further divide an already terribly divided country. I support the inquiry, but we need to defeat Trump at the ballot box

  32. Debate, not savage. Autocorrect comes up with strange words at time, although “savage” is an apt description of how this debate may unfold...

  33. And CNN claims it can be a fair and impartial moderator of tonight’s savage...along with co-host The NY Times, which just published a smear of Tulsi Gabbard. Cowardly and disgraceful doesn’t even begin to define this conduct.

  34. It’s high time for all Americans to understand the reality of these weapons, why they can never be used, and as such should not be allowed to exist. Arms control is the existential issue of our time, and yet Trump has walked away from the very agreements that make us safer.

  35. Just a reminder, amid all the angst and anger over the Kurds, that we have done this before. Americans should re-familiarize themselves with the fall of Saigon in April 1975. This is how bad wars end; we shall survive as a nation. Tragically, thousands of Kurds will not.

Today’s NYT preemptive puff piece on James Comey will not provide a Stay-Out-Of-Jail card for deceiving Court 3 times with bad info to get warrants to spy on Trump associate Carter Page (et al). DOJ IG report on those felonies is due out in a week or so.

  37. “As Editors, we reaffirm the importance of the journal not shying away from controversial policy debates concerning global peace and security.” Fail.

  38. Imagine that...Assad knows more about the reality of the situation than the entire US media corps, diplomatic corps, military commanders and political institutions combined. This was the most predictable outcome imaginable, and yet we continue to delude ourselves into believing.

  39. If only my fellow Americans were as loyal to the Constitution as this man is to his team...pro hint: a political coup dressed up as impeachment does not a Constitutionalist make.
