#ISIS has a new leader: Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, a name meant to suggest he's descended from the Prophet. They're still calling him "#Caliph". Below is the oath of allegiance. New spokesman Abu Hamza al-Qurashi also released a 7.37min audio warning#USA not to celebratepic.twitter.com/sp1QEUJjTI -

Title of
#ISIS audio announcing new#caliph can be traced to#Quran 48.10. It's quoted in full later in the audio. Choice is significant 1/ Comes from "The Victory" chapter so creates positive spin 2/ Implies oath to new caliph = allegiance to Allah 3/ Promises reward for loyaltyhttps://twitter.com/Dr_E_Kendall/status/1189956672200032256…Show this thread -

Isis appoints Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi as its new leader, Emir al-Moemineen (the emir of the faithful). So both the spokesman and the new leader of ISIS claim descent from the Meccan tribe of Quraysh. The spokesman asks followers to pledge allegiance to the new caliphpic.twitter.com/k4pKOIigzE

No specifics given about who these two leaders are. But Baghdadi’s successor claims descent from the Hashemite clan of Prophet Mohammed; his title includes that. The spokesman’s kunya only says “Qurashi” so he’s from the bigger tribe of Mohammed, not necessarily the same clan.pic.twitter.com/GXeUakt1Ca

This is appalling: Beinart gets applause for saying 'OK, let's define antisemitism in a way that suits the far-left & anti-Israel-activists. So
@PeterBeinart thinks that delegitimizing Zionism is just fine... As if that is conducive to peace between Israelis and Palestinians, Because delegitimization of the Jewish state's right to exist was so conducive to peace in 1948, and 1967, 1973, and the 2000s https://twitter.com/jstreetdotorg/status/1188476039149899776…0:36 -
