  1. Pinned Tweet

The same goes for interviews, press junkets, etc, by the way. I am in New York and I write about US culture, for a publication that is based in the UK (but accessible around the world thanks to the magic of the internet).

  2. I’m sorry, can someone help a girl out — why is it bad to carry your bat to first base? I understand it’s considered bad sportsmanship but why????

  3. You hit me up any time you need one of those pesky shirts buttoned up, Romulus

  4. Retweeting this with beanie pic as tweets with pics drive more engagement and I need all the podcast recs

  5. What’s a podcast you find uplifting? I need a palate cleanser after listening to a lot of true crime. Bonus points for podcasts who are positive but do not TALK about “positivity” (as a New Yorker it is against my vows to use this word unironically).

  6. I obviously mean pole, not bar, I’m foreign, thought we’d established that

  7. Really glad that some New Yorkers are devoting their energy to the fight that really matters: pointing to individual people in the Subway car and loudly asking CAN YOU MOVE A LITTLE FURTHER IN so that they may hang on to one bar with both hands

  8. 🎂 It's my one-year anniversary at The Independent! And what a lovely year it has been. Very grateful that I get to work with so many talented, creative and hilarious people every day. Merci.

  10. I wrote about "gay jokes" on Family Guy and now people are asking me why I watch television with my husband instead of talking to him pls send help

  11. Forget about the Joker steps, I want to see the bodega where Kendall shoplifts the batteries

  13. The only thing more ludicrous than Sean Spicer's inclusion on this season of Dancing With The Stars is the constant underscoring of James Van Der Beek??? This isn't a cause I ever thought I would take up but here we are

  14. * Thousands of people put down Ronan Farrow's book to gasp audibly *

  15. Several folks have inquired about reading this op-ed but can't afford an NYT subscription. A nice person from NYT is sending me physical copies so if you DM me your full name and address I will mail you one. (Please RT)

  18. (Yes I am aware of the existence of coffee mugs; I'm talking about a large tumbler type of thing that you can take to the coffee shop to avoid using a paper cup, a lid and a sleeve)

  19. ☕️ Any recommendations for a reusable coffee cup that doesn't make what's inside taste like metal? I don't want to kill the planet but I also don't want to feel like I'm drinking liquid steel

  21. Succession theory: substantially speaking, the Roys are the Murdochs; structurally, they're the Trumps, and aesthetically, they're the Gettys. In this essay I --

  23. A new docuseries aims to shift the Ted Bundy narrative away from him and onto the women in his story – something the true-crime genre desperately needs. This week's column:

  24. And she’s going to prove a truly......... DOGged reporter

  25. Oh how I have YEARNED for any kind of Ted Bundy content focusing on the WOMEN in this story – and now my wish has come true. Very much looking forward to this.

  26. I guess find yourself a partner who will randomly sing along to the Succession theme with you via text?

  27. Dirty Dancing is a PERFECT film for many reasons, which are laid out brilliantly by here – I cannot wait to read her book (and I may or may not be wearing a Dirty Dancing sweater as I type this because that, my friend, is what they call fate)

  31. I might be a bona fide piece of shit but at least I know how to use a semicolon

  32. Matt Lauer's letter is unforgivable, regardless of what you think of the allegation against him

  33. I don't really have any proposed solution to this (I don't think people are going to stop being somewhat fascinated by ~ impressive body transformations in the name of ART ~ any time soon), but man the whole thing has been ICKY

  35. The fascination for Phoenix's thinness and how he achieved it, claims that slimming down to unhealthy levels might make someone feel in control or energised, talks of not being able to socialise because you can't eat or drink normally... this is all hitting close to home.

  36. This isn't about any specific headlines (the headlines aren't the problem) but: as someone who lost four years of my life to an eating disorder, the entire discourse around Joaquin Phoenix's weight loss for Joker has made me VERY uncomfortable.
