    John Kerry issued a fatwa declaring "apostates", believers whose doctrines took them outside the bounds of . Obama many times said jihadists "pervert" the faith. So I don't understand why America would need to grant Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi a Muslim funeral.

    When bin Laden was killed, we were careful to be clear that he had been given a proper Muslim burial. Not because we gave a damn about him but because it was important for our relationships in the region and safety of our military and diplomats.

    Follow-on raids from the caliph's demise are underway: airstrikes around Jarabulus, rumoured to be targeting the spokesman, Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, whose identity we have never know and may never if he has been vaporized (unless IS chooses to tell us).

    journo with local contacts in the immediate vicinity of the strike can confirm 'at least 3 airstrikes' against an oil tanker. Villagers discovered 3 charred bodies inside one of the tanker's empty fuel cells.
