Another point which shows Baghdadi can't have been working with AQ-loyalist Hurras al-Din as an organization. The group has just reached an agreement w/Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham regarding resolution of some recent problems

In fact, the current rumour going around locally in the area is that the person targeted in the raid was not Baghdadi. For analogy, think of your own areas of residence: do you necessarily know all who reside and move in?

On this point, see 's response. Also asked a friend in Qalb Lawze (which is near Barisha) if there were any rumours recently about Baghdadi's presence in the area. Answer: No. Most of the ordinary inhabitants of the area had no idea he was there.

They're not a 'dissident IS faction': they're defectors. They quit/fled the organization a while ago

Though Shibl al-Aqeeda also takes a pot shot at Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, asking where is their supposed control and administration of Idlib amid all this?

Similar to al-Zubeir al-Ghazi of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, al-Qa'ida loyalist Shibl al-Aqeeda is only sad about the fact the 'criminal' Baghdadi was not killed by the 'mujahideen'

And the way things work in Idlib is that you can find a village that’s not controlled by a given faction but a member or some members of that faction live in said village.

Another point re. Baghdadi and alleged relations with AQ loyalist Hurras al-Din. Baghdadi definitely was not working with Hurras as an organisation. But it’s likely group has some IS sympathisers inside it. In February Hurras warned its members against affiliation/contact w/IS

Also see my latest post, which mentions 'al-Hajj Abdullah' in his role as amir of the 'Delegated Committee' (general governing body of Islamic State)

al-Hajj Abdullah also appears here in the 'Hashimi Advice' going back to 2017, as an obscure figure alongside Baghdadi with whom it was difficult to communicate

Also re. the question of succession: there's a guy who repeatedly turns up in insider testimonies as 'al-Hajj Abdullah': a deputy of Baghdadi. Check some examples here

On question whether Baghdadi could have been taken alive, it's unlikely. The reported manner in which he was killed is similar to the death of IS figure Abu Ali al-Anbari in 2016. A special ops raid came down and Anbari blew himself up.

Whatever one thinks of Trump etc., be glad that Baghdadi was killed.

Video footage from the site of the U.S. raid in northern Idlib that apparently targeted IS leader al-Baghdadi. Complete rubble. I think clearly the U.S. wanted to ensure the target was dead

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s al-Zubeir al-Ghazi expresses praise to God at reported killing of Baghdadi- ‘the enemy of God’- even if it is sad he was killed at hands of ‘disbelievers’ rather than ‘mujahideen’

One should not forget that other Islamic State leaders similarly fled in the northern direction towards Idlib and Turkey. Throughout the civil war smuggling has allowed people to turn up in unexpected places.

On the Baghdadi is killed claims, some points: 1. Wait for Trump’s official announcement 2. As of this moment, IS propaganda continues as though nothing has happened. Wait and see 3. It is plausible he was hiding in Idlib as way to throw off looking in more usual suspected places

Check out my latest monstrous post: new insider testimony and documents on scandal of disappearance & likely execution of many people who had been previously asked to repent in Islamic State's 'Wilayat al-Furat' (Euphrates province: Iraq/Syria borders).
