Speculating, but an interesting compound built on the western outskirts of Barisha, Idlib last spring, especially the bottom building

Looking at martyrdom postings, Faylaq al-Majd is recruiting from west Aleppo, but also IDPs from southern Idlib and as far away as Deraa; sadly very common to see IDPs join these factions, men as young as 19 with few prospects

Kataib Ahrar Darat Izza joining Faylaq al-Majd likely occurred alongside remnants of Nur al-Din al-Zenki that managed to escape the HTS offensive to Afrin; they rebranded as the "Third Brigade" and joined Faylaq al-Majd in March 2019

The specific subfaction that captured Cicek Kobane, Kataib Ahrar Darat Izza, was a small local faction that joined Faylaq al-Sham for protection during HTS's fight against Nur al-Din al-Zenki, but was expelled from Darat Izza two days later anyway

Major Yasser was expelled from leading Faylaq al-Sham N Aleppo sector in February 2018, however, due to his role in delivering the body of Russian pilot Roman Filipov - who had been shot down in Idlib - to Turkey, which then repatriated Filipov to Russia

The group participated in Operation Olive Branch, which seized Afrin from the YPG and expelled most of the Kurdish population in January-March 2018; faction was later accused of forcibly expelling IDPs from houses in order to turn them into military bases

Faylaq al-Majd initially comprised around a dozen small battalions in N Aleppo, Idlib & Latakia, with N Aleppo units immediately joining the "Shamiya Block", which served as one of the predecessor coalitions to SNA's "legions" before the SNA was officially established in Dec 2017

The group was established by Yamen Talgo "Abu Harith" () in Sept 2017; Talgo had been affiliated (in some capacity) with Jaysh al-Islam, hosting Zahran Alloush in his visit to JaI's "northern sector" units in summer 2015

"The intent [was] that they would be part of the future of Syria, whatever that entailed, and truthfully we didn't have a solid plan for how it would end" - this is a huge part of this disaster and shouldn't be forgotten amid Trump and Jim Jeffrey

Ahead of the purported "final offensive" against ISCAP-ADF announced by Pres Tshisekedi during his visit to Beni earlier this month, FARDC increases its troop presence in Beni from 11,000 to 21,000; this constitutes around 1/5 of the entire Congolese army
