RE: Why no turbine made in USA [quote] you come back name calling and used a poorly designed and manufactured propane hand grenade that was a complete commercial failure (another typical French characteristic) as your comeback to the thread? [quote] If you are talking about the JPX 260 engine you are talking complete and utter rubbish. It was certainly no hand grenade The JPX engines were made to the highest engineering standards (as those of us who visited the factory in Vibraye and know Jacques Buchoux ) , and if operated correctly were a very good engine indeed , development of other liquid fuelled engines, basically the KJ66 overtook them and as they were not capable of being developed to similar standards of thrust and performance as that edesign, JPX ceased manufacture. Their precision engineering capability was then used for things such as components for F1 engines and aerospace. Jerry Jackman's engine was, as far as I know, never developed although it did fly succesfully and is widely believed to be the first. Many of us had GREAT success with JPX engines and my T260 is being offered to the Science Museum in London, a great example of pioneering engineering in model aviation. Regards, David Gladwin. |
RE: Why no turbine made in USA ORIGINAL: Strykaas Great wine gives wings... In France was also the first flight of an rc jet powered by 4 turbine engines, 4 x jpx t240... RE: Why no turbine made in USA There is footage, but I don't know it's on the web. Peter Ritters from PR Medien & Hobby has it on his "Crash Action 4" DVD. Try to image the bird taking off from a gras strip with way too little speed, once airborne the pilot keeps it stick UP, desperate to get some altitude. The plane goes 85 degrees high-Alpha for a few seconds, flips over one time and plummits to its death in the woods... |

RE: Why no turbine made in USA David, Auto museums throughout the world are full of Ford Edsels too. I was responding to Sasses retort. JPX-260? Where did that come from Mate? RE: Why no turbine made in USA Strikaas, why you want to know why no turbine is made in the USA? RCU is a tool of exchange of information and friendship and it is not any good for trading insults or venting frustration. I would suggest you to concentrate in buying a turbine of any brand you want from whatever country that suits your technical needs.. and later share your pictures, stories or questions about this subject with us, as we are glad to read about them. Best regards, Enrique. |

RE: Why no turbine made in USA Gents, JDE makes a 14 lb, 54mm class engine called the Hawk 14. It is 100% made in California. Oops, the ECU is made in another state. But still all American. It features some neat innovations like a brushless starter motor. It can spin the engine nearly to idle RPM. JDE also has a Hawk 16 and a 66mm turbine in the works. DW_Crash |
