  4. Corruption is veryyyyyyyyyyy traceable. Remember that 5 out of 5 former Presidents of Peru are currently in jail. We have more tools today to dig stuff in the past. Would like to see a dozen kleptocrats in Lebanon behind bars.

  5. GOOD NEWS Kleptocrats in should realize is that every financial transaction done on Planet Earth since 2005 is traceable (the aftermath of Sep 11). Even if one uses prête-noms. Even if one uses cryptocurrencies, art work, etc. You cannot hide anything anymore.

  7. For nearly two decades, everyone was saying the US invaded Iraq because of oil. Syria doesn’t have much oil, but somehow the idea of continuing US presence in the country is framed in terms of securing the oil, to make it work for the US President & his audience.

    The irony is I think they're using the oil as a way to get POTUS to keep troops in Syria for non oil reasons. But try explaining that to your uncle at iftaar.

    Opinion as a Kurd and as an SDF member: SDF must call for immediate withdrawal of all US troops from northern Syria asap. Without US interference SDF and SAA can at least protect Kurdish lives and prevent Kurdish cities from being ethnically cleansed.
