    I would rather people talk about the rapidly spiralling climate apocalypse, the re-emergence of fascism across Europe, the unfolding ethnic cleansing of the Kurds by Turkey and the imminent collapse of civil society in Lebanon. Amongst others.

    This is one of the people I helped dig out on the 18th. There was something particularly difficult about seeing his hand outstretched like this, as if reaching for help that didn’t come. I fortunately never saw his face, because I probably wouldn’t have been able to forget it.
