A strong thread, but somewhat misleading on the FSA. Makes it sound like they were a single entity with a hierarchy. The choices were between a quasi army (SDF) and web of dozens of separate jihadists groups under the FSA umbrella. Who often fought amongst themselves.

No jihadist groups would claim that brand, or take US support, so I'm not sure where you're coming from there. But yes he is using fsa as a very imperfect shorthand though we know what he's talking about in terms of policy choices etc.
