Senator. Just Kurds or anyone who worked with us? Arabs also were part of the SDF. Let’s not worsen ethnic and sectarian tensions by adopting preferential and discriminatory policies.

False narratives about the conflict used to be fueled primarily by Russia & other kinds of regime supporters. Now a whole chorus of new parties are entering the stage. Mixed with collective amnesia & observers who focus on extremism scraping for non-existing/hyped stories.

Think about it folks. The US military handed a base to the Russians so Turkey, a NATO ally, couldn’t take it first. You can oppose Turkish operations and still not lose sight of the strategic consequence of this.

A sobering analysis. No one knows exactly how this will play out but the scenarios describe are entirely plausible.

Syrian opposition held on in Homs and Aleppo for years, and now still holding on in Idlib against regime, Russia, Iran, Hezbollah. YPG collapsed in 4 days. Why did we choose them instead again?

and the US would rather see the Syrian regime control NE Syria but for different reasons. For Turkey it's to prevent from staying. For US it's to prevent from reemerging. Different reasons same outcome. Syrian revolution loses.

THREAD: It’s not an accident that Ankara chose Ras al Ayn and Tel Abyad, two formerly Arab-majority town along its border with Syria, as the Turkish points of entry into that country. In 2015, the YPG took these towns, also ethnically cleansing their populations

I would add. Twitter is the worst when it comes to spreading panic. It would be crazy for the US to completely leave Syria. I'd wait a bit to see because it might be that the US will redeploy south of the Turkish zone, but still remain in Syria, as I sure hope they do.

No. how can you say this? Chemical attacks ring a bell? It was ok when Assad was doing the slaughtering? Come on, Tommy. We shld all be able to admit mistakes + be critical of Trump at the same time. We need to understand both shortcomings to realize how we got here
