Criminality isn't necessarily related to morality. If I were some kid from the street who turned to a life of crime to get dat paper I'd save a guy having a heart attack.
Just because he helped the guy doesn't mean he didn't do it. Nor would him not helping the guy indicate that he did it, there are plenty of assholes who live within the law. Societies laws exist irrespective of morality although most will agree crime is immoral.
