I love Halloween but this year I will be celebrating Day of the Dead. I'm having my face painted for the tradition and wearing black. It would be even nicer to be in Mexico where it is celebrated in the old style.
That's awesome, Mistress Cassandra! I love the Sugar-Skull makeup (la Calavera Catrina)! I'm sure you'll be super-pretty!
Below is what I wrote about good ol' Día de Muertos last Allhallowtide:
""
The spirit of Halloween continues! Halloween is All Hallows' Eve, also called All Saints' Eve. That makes November 1 All Hallows' Day, or All Saints' Day. However, November 2 is All Souls' Day. The three combined days are Allhallowtide, or the Hallowmas season, or the Triduum of All Hallows.
And did you know that in Mexico, Allhallowtide corresponds to the Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), which is actually misnomered, because it lasts three days, from October 31 to November 2 inclusive. Since I'm half-Mexican, I think it quite appropriate that I continue in the Hallowmas/Day of the Dead spirit. (The other half of me is poodle, with perhaps a bit of Lab mix.)
In that vein, I offer you dutiful and upright citizens the following stellar album Signos de Aberración (2002) by the Mexican band Hocico:

Now, if I can only figure out a way to extend the Halloween season to all year round ...
