Wrong. I ran for Congress to stop the Iraq War. I’ve spent my entire career leading the fight to keep America out Middle East entanglements. But the hell you unleashed - by double crossing an ally and restocking ISIS - will cost thousands of U.S. lives in the long run.

URGENT: US official tells me the situation in NE Syria is deteriorating rapidly. US Forces are at risk of being isolated and the risk of confrontation between Turkish proxies and US Forces is high. Extremist Turkish proxies are wearing SDF uniforms and killing civilians.

I worked on sanctions at Treasury and then at the WH, and the White House is discussing sanctions too late. was just on TV defending US troops getting out of Turkey's way by saying that there was nothing the US could do to deter Turkey's invasion -- and war crimes.

Pentagon chief says Turkey "appears to be" committing war crimes in northern Syria

The scenes from Kurdish Northern Syria, showing the results of Turkish air strikes and the evil barbarism of their Jihadist mercenaries, are horrific and sickening. But we knew this would happen after Afrin, and rather than trying to stop it, Donald Trump has actively enabled it.

I don't classify as an independist but seeing Turk. nationalists during this ethnic cleansing campaign comment on concerned posts by writing "you love Kurds, let them create a state inside your borders!" is just the weirdest argument. That is what you are asking Kurds to accept.

People are kindly sharing a statement from HRW about N.Syria. But reading it it is clear from its muted tune how it is carefully tailored to appease Turkey! Shameful!

Thus far, not a single tweet from and on the brutal murder of unarmed Kurdish politician and other kurdish civilians by Erdogan’s thugs. Yet, both of them, tweeted today about . Such hypocrisy proves their ongoing bias in favour of Islamism.

15 years ago, the coalition of "Greens" and "Social Democrats" in Germany approved the sale of tanks to Turkey. Today, people in Kurdistan and Syria are displaced and murdered with these tanks. To stand for peace means to fight arms exports!

but the fact of the matter is, kurds have only ever fit into the scheme of others when they were needed as proxies.

in the beginning of the syrian revolution, we were told by syrian, arab and western activists, journalists, politicians and experts that "now" is not the time for kurds to demand protection of their rights. "now" is not the time for kurds to assemble politically or militarily.

i have noticed in some analysts' remarks an underlying tone of blame towards the kurds, like if we had just been compliant kurds who did not insist too hard on our kurdish identity, we would not have been in this mess.

There are also other examples. Like when Turkish soldiers execute female guerillas who they have taken as prisoners and then throw the shot guerillas of cliffs.

Regarding latest executions by Turkish proxies on ground. Here is an older clip of Turkish soldiers. They are not much better or disciplined than their jihadist proxies. They have carried out enormous amount of war crimes in their decades long war against Kurds.

Reports of full prison break of ISIS detainees in Ain Issa refuted by my US and SDF sources. An unspecified number have escaped, after Turkish air force struck the area. There is a detention facility and a camp which houses mostly IDPs and some ISIS families.

Turkey's barbaric military offensive attack and its mercenaries have become close to the Ain Issa camp, home to thousands of ISIS families, some of whom were able to actually flee after the shelling of mercenaries. This is in support of the revival of ISIS again.

This killing, plus video'd execution of Kurdish prisoners & disappearance of Kurdish ambulance crew of 4, is mounting evidence that Turkish backed Islamist militias may be committing war crimes. If so, pressure will mount on US Pres. US troops also now "at risk of being cut off."
