    Rojava is Turkey’s neighbour; US would have left today or tomorrow, so they should have made some serious concessions acceptable to Turkey; it is painful but living in this neighbourhood is tough.

    I find KNC lazy and mostly dumb, but they already had an agreement with PYD and this was the only viable way to somehow contain PYD which would have made it extremely difficult for TR to justify attacking Rojava; I cannot find of any other sustainable scenario.

    - US could’ve revived power-sharing agreement between PYD-KNC (2012-13); - Positive for peace process - This would’ve made it difficult for TR to justify attacking Rojava - Kurds could’ve used non-Kurdish territory as negotiating card to guarantee autonomy

    I feel so sad to leave Qamishli. The Rojava administration made a huge mistake to stick so closely to the PKK, but they created a statelet which was peaceful and fairer than anywhere else in Syria. Kurdish friends crying tonight, condemned to violence and repression.

    The situation is so messy and chaotic, nobody for a fact knows what is going on, but if Erdogan - Putin have an agreement, this Assad deployment might be as ineffective as in Afrin. Let’s see.

    A Turkish official just laughed at me when I said Assad regime would take control of Manbij and Kobane 🤷🏻‍♂️

    The Tal Abyad civilian council which was formed by SDF has 10 Arab members out of 15. The rest are 3 Kurds, 1 Turkmen and 1 Armenian. Anyone who has visited the town can easily see it is still majority Arab, how is it ethnically cleansed when majority are still Arab?
