    It was observing the plight of the Kurds, over years, that made me finally realise how lucky we Greeks are to have our nation state and be able to defend ourselves and our ancient culture from Turkish oppression. And I will never be ashamed of that: rather, proud we still exist.

    Maybe the real mistake was to stick so closely to US which in fact never had a Syria policy as so many SDF commanders and Kurdish civilians argue right now. I can't even imagine Iran betraying its allies no matter what contrary to the US.

    I feel so sad to leave Qamishli. The Rojava administration made a huge mistake to stick so closely to the PKK, but they created a statelet which was peaceful and fairer than anywhere else in Syria. Kurdish friends crying tonight, condemned to violence and repression.

    In spring 2014, I was literally the first journalist to enter Syria for over a year, explicitly to show the first rebel revolt against ISIS: What more do these people want, idk

    I'm getting flak for criticising Turkey's proxy militias. In 2014, I was one of the journalists who could be counted on one hand entering rebel Syria to show Assad's monstrous and illegal campaign against civilians:
