Subject: Perpetual War and a few side-effects
The book was written in the 1950s long before the modern era of political correctness. Barnes was a graduate of Columbia University, but when he started talking to others and thinking for himself, he disturbed the established historian and propagandists who were laying their deceptions for future generations. He, George Seldes, Charles Beard, (not to mention John T Flynn) did a lot to get the public to start asking questions and to stop automatically trusting their politicians.
For this, Barnes was deeply resented. The book is titled this way because of the original book by the same title, written by Kant, whose plans came to be understood as mechanisms for the control of populations, if only wars could be fought perpetually and the people would always be in conflict, (the conflicts established by the financial class).
