So much fear in now. This city defeated ISIS against all odds with US support. There is even a Trump restaurant in as a sign of thanks for previous US support. Now they have to fear a Turkish invasion. Civilians in Kobani now ask me: what is going to happen?

The White House says Turkey will soon begin a military incursion into northern Syria. The move marks a major shift in United States foreign policy and effectively gives Turkey the green light to attack US-backed Kurdish forces.

Journalists/analysts asking what happens to al-Hol & its lot of foreigners? But who is asking what happens to residents of Raqqa, Qamishli, Deir al-Zor governorate, Hasake, Tal Abyad, Amuda, Kobani...is there a plan for them?

    2. The Kurds were pretty clear that if Turkey attacks, they will be forced to move soldiers away from camps and prisons to the new frontlines. Considering Hol is guarded by 400 SDF soldiers, and considering the almost daily violence there, this will have major consequences.

    1. Just got home from a week in Syria. A few things that are clear from our interviews: -Baghdadi speech calling for a prison break had profound impact inside camps/prisons. Sept 30th violence in Hol was direct result of these women feeling ISIS leaders still cares about them.

We are going to see this soon again. I wrote this last year when Trump also threatened to withdraw "Fears in SDF-held Arab majority towns amid Syrian gov. troops amassing near Deir al-Zor"

We all saw what Turkey did in Afrin. Turkey wants to repeat this scenario in the rest of the east of the Euphrates.

ISIS women in the camps held by SDF are quite excited if Turkey comes into northeast Syria. Moreover, ISIS will take benefit from any chaos if Turkey invades.

First the Kurds incurred unimaginable losses fighting against ISIS. Then we asked them to carry the burden and risk of housing around 80,000 captured men, women, and children. And now, we are abandoning them entirely. Shame.

A reminder: it's 3 months since S-400 missiles from NATO's nemesis Russia arrived in Turkey. Under US federal law, Washington was compelled to sanction Ankara for the purchase. No sanctions came. It looks like Turkey's President has his American counterpart where he wants him.
