    Of all the raining right now, I'm surprised that not more of a fuss is being made about the fact that the Turkish read out of the call mentions a Erdoğan-Trump meeting for November and the White House read out mentions no such thing.

    If it doesn't seem to make sense, one reason might be it doesn't: part of this could be Trump lashing out in anger or even counter-bluffing, telling Erdogan that if you want Syria, okay, fine, have fun with al-Hol. Similar signaling in WSJ a few days ago:

    So a limited incursion in the border region between Tell Abiad and Ras al-Ain, which is what Turkey has been toying with for a long time, is likely what's happening? But the US also spoke about handing over al-Hol, which is over on the other side of everything, near Iraq.

    The NLF and SNA merger will give SNA a structure of 7 corps [فيلق], incl. 3 in North Aleppo/Efrin—presumably the existing SNA. Led by Interim Government Defense Minister Salim Idriss as SNA chief of staff, with Adnan al-Ahmed as deputy for N. Aleppo/Efrin.
