It’s difficult for me to understand how any current or former military — particularly SOF — can support this blundering idiot. They’ve fought alongside the Kurds.

Trump açıklaması: 1.Buna Pentagon ve YPG ne tepki verecek? 2.Harekat ne zaman başlayacak, ne kadar derine inilecek? 3.Hava sahası bize açılacak mı? 4.IŞID işi can sıkıcı.IŞID'a ne yapacağız? 5.Çıkış stratejimiz var mı? 6.Esad'la koordine olacak mı?

US foreign policy wise, I can't wait for Trump to cash in on Democrats especially decrying his abandonment of SDF partners to Turkish invasion as wanting forever wars.

The fun thing about Turkish trolls using this kind of rhetoric is that it always comes full circle. The person this is directed towards, i.e. myself, was born a refugee in a hospital near a refugee camp. I was thus one of the luckier ones born to refugee status.

As far as Syrian Civil War tribalism goes, it's only a matter of time before apologists for Rebels turn out in droves to justify ethnically cleansing North East Syria because of PYD kicking out Nusra and FSA several years ago.

A point I have been waiting for someone to make. Who actually believes the SDF will provide force protection (important for US withdrawal) while somehow handing Ankara ISIS prisoners and allowing themselves to be slaughtered? Bizarre.

The US has a long history of abandoning Kurdish allies. Has it ever been this painfully blunt?

Iraq is in chaos, and tomorrow, after Trump's green light for a Turkish invasion, northeastern Syria may be in chaos too. And the progress made in the war against ISIS—at great cost to local U.S. allies and to civilians—could soon be unraveling

    (4) 2. A long-term war in the region making a permanent conflict area. While the international community look for Syria political solution, the Syrian people suffer years of war and migration.

Based on our confidence in the efforts in the Security Mechanism agreement, we implemented all our commitments to remove military fortifications between Tal Abyad & SereKaniye, withdraw combat forces with heavy weapons, risking a security vacum as a result of the agreement.

And about the point about Turkey fighting ISIS in Syria? Does anyone knowledgeable about the situation believe this will happen? At best Turkey will happy the SDF has defeated ISIS and hope Assad and the Russians take DeZ.

And regardless, Assad isn't exactly offering anything except not an immediate Arab Belt 2.0 while Turkey offers one today. Also, unclear how Assad would move in exactly while US forces are still there.

Kurds don't have those kinds of choices. As with Afrin, if the choice is being cleansed by Assad or by Turkey, at least the calculation is that Turkey will eventually leave if it is made difficult enough.
