One week ago, I gave a short talk in Istanbul about US policy towards #Syria. The Turkish media went berserk. Out of 50+ articles I went thru, only 2 accurately reflected what I actually said. The rest was propaganda. I stayed silent, hoping it would go away. It didn't.
Perhaps Erdogan would think twice before intervening in Syria again if it was clear that Turkey would be attacking and potentially killing not only #Kurds - who Erdogan assumes by default are terrorists - but also Arabs, #Christians, #Yezidis & Turkmen who have joined the #SDF.
After @imamoglu_int and Kılıçdaroğlu spoke, the rest of the conference was supposed to be Chatham House rules. But soon after I spoke, the first hit pieces were launched. @yenisafak @Ahaber @Sabah seem to have led the propaganda machine, saying I caused a "büyük skandal."

Many of the 50+ propaganda pieces about me featured a photo of a woman that wasn't even me. They took the photo from this article I published back in 2015. I have asked that the video of my talk be released because - I stand by everything I said - I have nothing to hide - the Turkish media could then either honestly engage my arguments, or at least attack me based on what I actually said rather than fabricate laughable accusations
I have been visiting #Turkey regularly since 2003, and I have never experienced anything like this before. I guess this is what happens when all the good journalists are in prison.

You shouldn't have gone there in the first place. Educating Turks about the Kurdish issue & crimes Turkey and Ottoman Empire committed in the past is impossible. You may even have been arrested for this.
