Whether you're on board with it or not, the fact is that breast removal is a mastectomy. Why do you feel otherwise?

Technically it is but I think using the term "top surgery" differentiates that it's for some other purpose as opposed to it being for removal of cancer cells. IDK. Use either one I guess.

It doesn't matter what the reason is. It's a very serious, dangerous and painful surgery. Calling it top surgery is an attempt to lessen that. We can start calling cancer, warm fuzzy kitty, but it won't make it any less deadly. This trend of softening things to downplay the severity of them is not helpful to anyone except the doctors raking in the cash doing them.
@MissScarlett I don't. I am just not a fan of telling someone not to use shorthand in regards to their own surgery. Too and bottom surgery have a pretty specific use case
