Every year, the Minnesota Music Teachers Association sponsors a piano contest. The participants perform first at the district level then the state level. If they win at the state level, they are eligible to perform at the annual Honors Concert on June 14 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The students will have four rehearsals and then will perform duets with other students. There are 20 grand pianos on stage with a conductor leading the concert.
