@markeharding,
Do you not consider that the default opt-out situation could be seen as being possibly unethical (judging from what I have seen within various H&S post, several community members believe that having the "repeat transaction" being an opt-out option could well be considered as being less then ethical)?
I recommend that you (alternatively, @jotto141 and / or @ottman) review the comments within the following H&S enquiry (which is one of several posts that I have recently read in relation to concerns about this issue) and if necessary reply to those community members that have expressed concerns about this situation.

It is not unethical the primary purpose of the function is recurring payments
@ottman,
It is not my intention to be drawn into a conversation here about if this is ethical or not. However, I am merely pointing out the comments that other community members have provided and as such, I suggest that as a member of the senior staff team, you or possible @jotto141 provide a public statement (within a Minds post or blog article) which explains the situation.

@ottman,
I was just re-reviewing the Terms of Services (ToS) agreement and noted section 17.3, which includes the following statement: "Minds Tokens are not intended to be a virtual currency, security, derivative or any other kind of financial instrument".
By using the term "payments" you are actually implying that Minds tokens are a "kind of financial instrument" (or even possibly a "virtual currency"), therefore I recommend either amending the ToS section or reconsider the usage for the Minds tokens.
Id just like to say, this was set to on as default at one point in the past, and the community raised an issue with that, and you changed it to off by default.
Leaving it on by default might be ethically in a business sense, but not in a moral sense.
Most people have come to think of leaving a recurring payment on by default as a unscrupulous way to get unintended payments.
The bigger issue is, as it was before, when people could not turn off their recurring payment. This happened on more than one occasion, where $5 payments were made to Stripe, even after we no longer used Stripe.
Let me ask you this: Why did you change the default position from on to off a while back, and changed your mind yet again to change the default from off to on. This is a paradigm shift, and we are seeing more and more of them in the past few months.
