If you’re a young journalist at a major UK newspaper who’s been told to spend the afternoon digging up dirt on Supreme Court judges – from where their kids go to school, to whether they like idk French cheese – remember…… you don’t need to do that.

You’re getting a lot of pushback over this, but frankly I have to say I agree, and in that position I would refuse, even if it cost me my job. Probably part of the reason why I’m not a more successful journalist
