A member of the Canton School Board has been sentenced to prison for voter intimidation.A Madison County judge sentenced Courtney Rainey to 15 years in prison. The judge suspended three years of the sentence, so Rainey will serve 12 years in prison, court officials said. Rainey is one of several people who were charged with trying to influence the 2017 Canton municipal election. Prosecutors said Rainey is accused of bribing voters with Walmart gift cards and cash. She is also accused of improperly helping people fill out absentee ballots.Prosecutors said Rainey will face another trial on a voter fraud charge after a jury failed to reach a verdict on that charge during an August trial.
