That's if we trust Iran to be reasoneable - the alternative is that radicals would gain strength as a reaction. IRGC and ISIS are two sides of the same coin.

It is not about trust. Too early to talk trust now. Start by talking to them. Teat them. They keep saying they are ready to put all issues on the table. Force them to show their hand.
-
As a reward for attacks? if anything recent developments have shown the consequences of the JCPOA: turning a blind eye to IRGC actions in the region (a condition for negotiating nuclear deal) got us here and in ten years the IRGC would have nuclear capabilities.

I do not see
#Arab Gulf countries picking up leadership mantle of defending themselves. Neither@BarackObama in past nor@realDonaldTrump today is rushing 2their defense. What other choices do they have but 2dialogue? -
They should dialogue for sure, but the worse time to do it is when there seems to be no other choice. Plus the US should be at the table too and the Europeans should decide on which side they will sit.
-
-
This is about regional and international security. In JCPOA negotiations a gullible US was tricked into ignoring regional concerns - it is not only Syrians who paid the price.
-
And is it a gullible
@realDonaldTrump who is refusing to stand up to#Iran after its attack? - 2 more replies

5 is key. The question is if Iran is ready for such dialogue.
-
Talking is one way to find out.
-
You know better than anybody else Randa how talks have been during the last four years at least. Different platforms, different people and different ways. Still in square one! Unfortunate FACT
-
I know & still believe there is no way but to dialogue especially at Track 1.0 level.
-
Finally , talks for the purpose of talks only don’t help. Iran has to revisit its policies and strategies starting from the constitution
-
I agree that talks for talks do not help. But this is not the case here. There is already a long list of issues to form a substantive agenda. Options for many of these issues have been framed in different dialogue platforms. We are not starting from scratch.
-
This discussion shows the problem. Iran has proposals for discussion, and the Gulf States refuse dialogue without massive concessions first, fantasizing that the US will eliminate Iran. Keeping Iran out of the Arab world is as silly as keeping Saudi Arabia out of South Asia.
-
Well, that’s not really accurate. You need to go back the GCC -Iran relations during Khatami Presidency. GCC believed that Iran policy has changed after Iran-Iraq war & Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait, so we witnessed good improvementThis shows the problem.Iran has to be normal state

What has this policy yielded in Lebanon as an example ...
-
Because the policy of relying on US to confront Iran has worked?
-
I have so much to say i am afraid doing that over here will only make me look offensive and won't get this conversation anywhere.

Absolutely. I would add 6) GCC members would benefit from having stable relations with
#Iran. Establishing geostrategic demarcation lines/zones of influence in the#MiddleEast could help them play a productive role in the region instead of wasting resources on security & defence.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
