Meet Mark

Born in Oshkosh, WI, Mark has worked in radio, on stage and in front of and behind the cameras in TV and film.  Mark won an Emmy award for his work in TV news in San Diego.

Mark has lived in Clearwater since 2013 having previously spent two years here between 2000-2001. He is best known for speaking out against Scientology's fraud and abuse for the past 20 years.

Mark has appeared on Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath and contributed to HBO's Going Clear.

On the city council I will concentrate on:

Affordable Housing

Transparency and Accountability

Standing up against Scientology Fraud & Abuse

Endorsed by

Leah Remini

Actress/Producer

I first heard of Mark Bunker when he spoke up on behalf of Lisa McPherson after she died while being watched by Scientologists at the Ft Harrison Hotel, in Clearwater.

At the time I was a loyal and dedicated Scientologist and believed that anyone who brought any unwanted attention to Scientology was a criminal who should be destroyed.

Yet Mark struck me as a loving and caring person trying to speak on behalf of an unfortunate woman who no longer had a voice. Though I was supposed to hate Mark, I couldn’t. He was calm, and not filled with hate; but rather just a man who was doing the right thing.

I have come to know him since -- he is one of the good guys and I believe he has always had his heart in the right place.

Mark believes it is important to stand up for those who can’t do it for themselves. What greater quality could there be for an elected representative?

I know Mark will not take a pay out to be silent. He will not choose the path of least resistance because it is comfortable, but will look to do good for all.

I call Mark a friend. Clearwater would be lucky to have him as its friend.

Mike Rinder

Scientology & the Aftermath Co-host

Downtown Clearwater is dominated by Scientology. The city needs elected officials who understand Scientology and are unafraid of them. Mark qualifies in spades on both counts.

Not only that, he is a kind, intelligent man who really cares about the well-being of others, which is what brought him to Clearwater two decades ago.

It's a simple equation -- he has all the right skills and knowledge to do this job like it must be done.

Mark Bunker is good for the citizens of Clearwater, not so much for Scientology.

Denis deVlaming

Attorney

Mark Bunker is a highly qualified candidate for the Clearwater City Council. He will bring a fresh, new voice to Clearwater's future and not be swayed by special interests. Clearwater needs someone like Mark to bring the City back to the greatness it once was.

Aaron Smith-Levin

The Aftermath Foundation Board Member

Mark Bunker is exactly who we need on Clearwater’s City Council to show the world that even though Scientology owns a bunch of property they do not own this town.

Mark has fought for 20 years to expose abuse in Scientology. He will fight just as hard for the citizens of Clearwater.
