I am looking to start a family and i am desperate to teach my kid english while leaving my Japanese wife to teach them Japanese. But I'm failing to teach my wife english myself, so this got me worried. Do kids really learn faster and easier than adults? Appreciate any pointers u can throw at me.
This could be a bit off but bilingual Japanese here! Raised mostly in Japan by Japanese parents, but attended an international school. If spending money on education isn't an issue for the household, I highly recommend international schools as it will definitely be hard for kids from multicultural backgrounds to fully blend in at a normal Japanese school. (Even someone like myself that is 100% Japanese by blood had difficulties with the locals that fail to see beyond their own culture)
Personally for me, if i didn't go to a normal school to enjoy a "normal" childhood i would probably blame my parents for it. But i guess it boils down to the individual. Hard to say what they will feel.
If anyone approaching family-hood, or already into it, would like some reading, you could do worse than going to the JALT Bilingual N-SIG for some reading. That link is to the monograph, but they have a journal, too, and you can order the monographs that are not there already in PDF form.
Our early experiences are there (back in the early/mid 90s) and many, many others, too. Reading thru some of that might be better than reinventing the wheel.
And I'll disagree with some of the posts here. Instead of each parent sticking exclusively with their own language thru all those years, it can also be important for both parents to model bilingualism for their growing kids--to show them the kind of language ability that you are hoping and assuming they'll achieve. (I.e., you need to achieve what you're expecting them to, not create a standard different than you use for yourself.)
If not, there's at least a chance that a kid could resent one of the languages, or maybe give up on it along the way. And if they make the choice to stay in Japan (get jobs, get married and have their own kids), you might be needing japanese then anyway.
That's some solid advice but i feel like i can't adopt bilingualism right out the gate.
I have to speak perfect english + wife perfect japanese....
Then maybe when the kid is like 8, when they have a firm grasp of the grammar structures then can we only start using both.

44000 is a lot of money.... That's a holiday trip that could have been had, almost pay for a new phone, for him to chuck it off like it's spare change means he must be loaded.
Not really, it's what your rainy day fund should be about. I really don't want to judge anyone about it, but as an adult these kind of things happen and 44000 is really not that much. It's a comparable amount to a small emergency fund in case of an accident, something breaking in your home, essential unexpected living expenses (a fine? Unexpected taxes? Family pc breaking? Etc) and I don't think you should really freak out much about it.
I certainly am not going to spend time trying to figure out what to stock up as the most optimal way to save up a couple thousand yennies extra a month. As someone else said, just eat out less often if that's such a concern.

Also worth mentioning if the stew drains your stats you can drink a super restore.
He doesn't have to drink super restore because if he wants to boost for ornate, he probably already has Superior Rejuvenation pool..... Just drink from there.
Also... Make sure u have 10 anti-venom ready when you boost....I actually got a +5 on my second stew and could'nt for the life of me figure out why i can't upgrade to the ornate pool..... by the time i realized i have 10 anti-venom+ instead, the boost is already gone.
Got +5 again about 6 stews later though so i was really lucky.
