Lordlings of Yore released by A.P.P.L.E.

Seattle, Washington — November 26, 2018 — Apple Pugetsound Program Library Exchange (A.P.P.L.E.) and Jon F. Baxley are proud to announce the immediate availability of the book for his classic game Lordlings of Yore: The Game of Knights, Knaves and Necromancers.

Lordlings of Yore was originally published in 1983 by Softlore Corporation, a company run by Jon. The newly-designed 56 page manual includes remastered art for the cover and interior.  The cover even showcases more art than the original game box, as an early production print was located and remastered.  Author Jon F. Baxley also wrote a new preface and historical perspective for this A.P.P.L.E. release.  The game is now free of copy protection and uses standard DOS 3.3.  While a free download of the game disk is available, a limited edition box and floppy reproduction will be available soon for collectors.

Availability

Lordlings of Yore: The Game of Knights, Knaves and Necromancers is available through the A.P.P.L.E. bookstore with production and fulfillment by Lulu.com.  A disk image is on the Apps page, and a printable Shire Map and Unit Roster are available.

Features

  • Table of Contents.
  • The dense fog has finally lifted from the shire, exposing the great walls of the enemy castle.  Cold chills run through you in your heavy armour, making all about you seem hostile and foreboding.  Thoughts of the previous night’s battle with the horrible dragon still rage in your mind as you prepare to join your troops in the final assault.  You’ve tried diplomacy…you’ve tried bribery…you’ve even tried magic, but all to no avail.  Force of arms seems to be the only way this time.  You must defeat this last Lordling to secure once and for all the title you so justly deserve…Lord of the Realm.  Now…visor down…shield forward…onward to victory!
  • Lordlings of Yore is the ultimate “Fantegy” game…not just a fantasy or an adventure, not just a strategy game, but the best of all three.  High-resolution graphics, sound, animation, and the most intriguing movement and combat system in any Apple II computer game, all combine to make this a must for anyone who longs for a real test of their courage and skill.
  • You can compete with up to three other humans, or take on the ultimate challenge of three level four computer opponents.
  • True hidden movement, passwords, storms, wizards, dragons and new challenges in every turn are all there to keep you coming back.  No two games will ever be the same and that’s a promise!
