One of the co-founders of the "Russophile Movement" - an openly pro-Kremlin party in Bulgaria - was arrested this morning on espionage charges. The arrest comes on 9/9 - the former communist national holidays - which Russia still insists is the day "USSR liberated Bulgaria."

"Russophiles Movement" was the brain-child of former Socialist party operatives who in 2014-2015 teamed up with Konstantin Malofeev and the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies to launch a pro-Kremlin political party. The project never took off the ground.

The suspect says he was interrogated about his connections with Russian intelligence, including his "good old friend" Leonid Reshetnikov. Reshetnikov is a senile ultra-orthodox nutcase who was KGB/SVR's *rezident* in Sofia, and used to run SVR's analytical department.

And meanwhile in an unprecedented move the Bulgarian Attorney General announced that Putin's intimate coroborater and manipulator of the political scene in Sofia general Reshetnikov has been banned from entering Bulgaria for the next 10 years! Happy 2029 general!
I see Bulgaria's democracy has not evolved much since the 1930s.
